You can already read our complete written review of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt right here, but for visual aid purposes, we went ahead and captured a host of spoiler-free footage and put it together for a full video review.
The complete video comes in at just over 12-minutes, and should be absolutely watched at 1080p so you can see just how good the pre day-one patch review version of the game was looking on PS4. And also because I imagine at 1080p, my voice sounds even sexier.
I disagree with this on a number of levels - first of all, this an open-world with an absolutely enormous amount of detail poured into various large open areas, all within eye-shot and each visitable. The older games had locked-off areas with clever walling, leaving draw distance etc not a drain on processing power and this more room to focus on other components...
Secondly, it's not just about visuals, the game and gameplay itself is the main standout here.
Huh? It's comparing 2013 Witcher 3 footage to 2015 Witcher 3 footage. What are these older games you speak of? Also when you are talking about bait and switch then yeah it is all about visuals. What has story got to do with bait and switch?
I'm just crossing fingers and toes that those "good graphics" comparisons are from the PC version. If it doesn't come like that as standard, maybe they will release a HD textures pack? (skyrim?)
The list of stuff excluded seems rather trivial high-end graphics malarkey to me, the casual gamer. Looking forward to playing this (on my PC)! Only finished 2 recently and it was epic.

THIS is actually what happened. The 2013 videos and images were highly controlled set-pieces. I would much, much rather CDPR pump their hours into gameplay rather than creating a few extra assets the majority of Witcher 3 players wont see AND can be added at a later date as an Enhanced Version.
The 2013 one was something they put together for E3, was before they even knew the final specs they were aiming for or even had the DX11 Witcher 3 engine finished, so it was a lot of smoke and mirrors, was really staged, and didn't have the rest of the entire game simulation running behind it. Not really a fair comparison.
i've been avoiding watching any reviews, spoilers and all. I have already seen enough gameplay videos anyway and being a fan of the series i know i will love this game.
Also you's seen the new launch cinematic? f*****' brilliant.
The saddest thing is that this is allegedly the last time CD Projekt RED will touch the universe, but the game is going to reach Skyrim levels of expanded audiences beyond the core, so it'll introduce heaps of people to this rich and amazing world, but it's also the final destination.
I'm pretty sure I heard in a video by CDPR that this will be their final game in the Geralt trilogy, but they have completely left the possibility of a game in the same universe wide open...
You'd have to think if the game sells as-well as it is expected too, they'd be crazy not to come back to the franchise. Its the end of Geralt's saga but i suppose the possibilities open for a new protagonist, maybe Ciri, who knows.
So I'm trying to work out what the story is with the graphics downgrade / people crying, anyone know for sure if they are s****** than the 2013 footage?
They aren't 100% heaps worse and thinking that is just plain idiotic. It is definitely downgraded from the original 2013 trailer but you have to remember that is two whole years in game development time, which is pretty huge. CDPR have said before that their build is shared across all three platforms (thanks to X86), so for the most part assets are shared and increased representative of hardware.
Yes, the game doesn't look as amazeballs as the original trailer, but that was two years ago. Yes it still looks amazing for an open-world game, and no the downgrade has not affected the game at all in any gameplay way.
Apparently the textures are the same as 2013 however they reduced the sharpness they felt it strained the eye after a while of playing. Nothing that cant be changed fairly easily for PC.
This 'downgrade' people speak of, is full of s*** and misrepresentation and ignorance of game development.

I for one am glad they didn't plow s*** loads of time into getting ultra detailed graphics and instead used their time to make a better game. After they receive their monies for the great game, they can make an enhanced edition to make it as purdy as possible.
People are b****ing because they 'think' the game graphics were intentionally 'downgraded' for the one and only reason to make the PC version similar to the console version graphics wise, because consoles. They don't even consider that it could be for a far more reasons, one of which is development time and dedication of staff, money and other assets for, what will be, a small percentage of the total players.

It's been made clear that the 2013 grfx were fine for a PC version of the Witcher 3.
Read the article I posted.

Still Bring on Cyberpunk 2077.
Part of me hopes that they do indeed leave the Witcher alone now, don't sully a masterpiece with a lesser game in the future.
