With Assassin's Creed: Unity slowly approaching its November release, publisher and developer Ubisoft has unleashed a new trailer today focusing on the story elements to better prepare eager gamers picking up the open-world title.

Set during the French Revolution, the game features sword-fighting, Parisian traversal, guillotines, rampaging mobs, gorgeous couture and lots of people talking about honor and liberty. Also, Napoleon Bonaparte.

In related Unity news, Ubisoft has come under fire in regards to their decision to bring Unity at 900p 30FPS for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions, a choice that was made to keep visual parity.

It started with a quote from Ubisoft Montreal producer Vincent Pontbriand, speaking to the website Video Gamer about their decision to keep Unity maintaining 900p resolution and 30 frames per second on both the Xbox One and PS4.

"We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff," Pontbriand reportedly said, no doubt referring to a string of extended conversations that have sprung up in the past year over the technical differences between Sony and Microsoft's current-gen consoles.

Ubisoft has since responded to the claims that the developer had gimped one version to keep it at parity, noting they didn't "lower" specs to maintain graphical parity.
We understand how Senior Producer Vincent Pontbriand's quotes have been misinterpreted. To set the record straight, we did not lower the specs for Assassin's Creed Unity to account for any one system over the other.

Assassin's Creed Unity has been engineered from the ground up for next-generation consoles. Over the past 4 years, we have created Assassin's Creed Unity to attain the tremendous level of quality we have now achieved on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. It's a process of building up toward our goals, not scaling down, and we're proud to say that we have reached those goals on all SKUs.

At no point did we decide to reduce the ambitions of any SKU. All benefited from the full dedication of all of our available optimization resources to help them reach the level of quality we have today with the core Assassin's Creed Unity experience.
Assassin's Creed: Unity will be launching for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One come November 13th.

it's a lame move no matter what reasoning they give. one console shouldn't be handicapped just because the other one can't perform as well.

Finding it really difficult to get excited about this Assassin's Creed. Feels like a step backwards, going back to being limited to just running around streets and buildings again after Black Flag

This is why I stick to the PC for Assassin's Creed games. It seems as if it's made for that platform and console versions only really exist to keep people happy, not because it's what they want to concentrate on.

I could only imagine the outcry if they gimped the PC version to 900p with the reason being "a choice that was made to keep visual parity" between platforms.
