Two days after Kotaku first reported the leaked screenshots of what was presumed to be the next-gen-only Assassin's Creed for 2014, codenamed "Unity", Ubisoft has today confirmed that this is indeed their next title in the long-running franchise.
We have been working on the new Assassin’s Creed for more than three years, and wanted to find the perfect time to give you an early taste of the game. Apparently though, the Templar Order was hungry to know more right now. To this, we say “Qu'ils mangent de la brioche!” (“Let them eat cake!”). Help yourself to a serving of the first official footage from the next-gen only Assassin’s Creed: Unity. Stay tuned - we'll have many more exciting details for you in the future.
Little is known about who we will play this time round, though the previous rumour suggested Unity will take place during the French Revolution, so expect a lot of bloodshed. You can check out the truly stunning footage below, showing off what to expect from an entirely next-gen only Assassin's Creed, including a very drawn out look of Paris.
Assassin's Creed: Unity will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime during 2014. Kotaku also pointed out that a possible last-gen title is in the works as well, though Ubisoft has yet to confirm.
Even though i loved the open ocean exploration of Black Flag, it will be great to finally get back to the big city rooftops. Eagle dive off the Eiffel tower, yes please.

it looks like the game is set during the french revolution, 100 years before the eiffel tower was built.
