Ubisoft has today announced a new release date for the upcoming PC version of Assassin's Creed 3, pushing the title back until November. It comes as no surprise with Ubisoft's track record for PC titles showing a clear delay compared to their console buddies.

Hopefully with such a delay Ubisoft can work extra hard on making the PC title just right for eager fans, getting the game as well polished as possible.

You can check out more on Assassin's Creed 3 by heading to our game page for the latest trailers and interviews.

Assassin's Creed 3 will be available for PC on November 23rd, and for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 it will be available on 31st Ocotober.

Wasn't this announced as being delayed a while back? Or is this another delay? Or was that for the whole game, not just PC?

I am fine with the delay as it means a little bit more attention. I wish other developers did the same. DICE, Crytek, the COD ones ect.

bahahaha, Ubisoft, you're so lame. Have you got a template for news articles about ubisoft delaying PC versions of their games?

Highly anticipated AAA game is delayed for PC. Seems to be common practice these days.

It seems that the guys at Ubisoft are saying PC players should just play with a controller, rather than KB/Mouse as they don't think that it's worth investing in KB/Mouse setup.

Ubisoft announcing a delay for the PC version is normal for them now. They want as much money from console sales first before they release their s***** DRM riddled version for gamers to inevitably crack and play without issues.

Also on the subject of AC in general from wiki...
Assassin's Creed III is an upcoming historical action-adventure open world stealth video game

Maybe i'm just still stuck in the Thief mindset for stealth in games but my fat arse that the AC series was ever real stealth. When I first heard about the 1st game's premise of being an assassin during the crusades I thought it'd be awesome. I thought i'd have to sneak my way into castles being careful not to act suspicious and drawing attention, killing my target and then getting away all without being seen.

Instead you rarely get to kill your target without him seeing you and running away, or being instantly surrounded by guards and having to fight 10 people off at once. I've played the first 3 games and perhaps I'm missing 1 or 2 kills that involved real stealth but nearly every kill I can remember involved him seeing me before hand and at least attempting to run. That doesn't say assassin so much and to me this isn't a stealth game anymore so much as it just has a disappearing mechanic to it.

That rant over with though I do hope Thief 4 has a sort of climbing system in it like this because that is really all I ever played this series for.

In AC2 I tried to kill one of my targets during a scripted sequence, silly me. I jumped off the roof and did a knife-to-the-neck takedown, target fell over, got back up .. I knifed again, he fell and got back up ... then I was teleported back to the roof for the next scripted sequence and the game continued as though nothing happened.

Yeah, as mentioned the delay doesnt mean more attention to PC at all. I really dunno the exact reasons why they go console first but maybe is assume its to do with profits or cause they know it will score higher with the console controls and console players before they realise their s***** DRM console port and it gets blasted by PC players.

I really hope not. I cant think of any games id prefer to play on gamepad apart from sports and fighters and every AC game so far (only 1 and 2 ive played with brotherhood waiting til ive finished #2) ive happily played on kb+mouse without issue.

Maybe i'm just still stuck in the Thief mindset for stealth in games but my fat arse that the AC series was ever real stealth.

Lol, AC stealth, GTFO. Only stealth i can think of is in AC1 when i would sneak behind the templars to assassinate them as it was easier than fighting them head on. That and maybe a few AC1or2 missions where you had to go from A to B without raising an alarm but it was never very challenging. Ive only ever played a little of thief 3 but have played heaps of splinter cell and to me, that is stealth (if you want to play that way).

it's already been established that they delay they're games on PC to increase the console sales. they hope people we go buy it on console instead of waiting a month to pirate it on PC.

Well yeah, i figured that as its pretty obvious but i doubt thats the only reason.

well they wouldn't be polishing the game for PC, because a month out from release it should have already gone gold.

They can still have an extra month of polish on the pc version as the console version would have had to go gold a couple of months earlier to meet certification for the PS3 and 360.

As a big fan of the AC series, I felt AC Revelations was a little like The Dark Knight Rises. A necessary but unfortunately hasty end to an otherwise great trilogy.

I have great faith that the new AC series (i.e. AC 3) will restore faith to its fans and help to build AC to its former glory. I would be really surprised if this game misses the mark, judging by their drastic change to the plot and characters I'm hoping to see the same reinvention and creativity that AC2 brought. I thought AC2 was an epic adventure that had a level of identity and character development that was lacking from other AC titles.

They usually claim that the delay for PC gamers is for extra polish to make things just right for us. Which is just PR damage control bulls***.

GameSpy: So when's the PC release date?

Ubisoft PR: October 30th.

GameSpy: Yeah, but when's the real PC release date?

Ubisoft PR: It's October 30th.

GameSpy: Uh huh. And can you say that with a straight face?

Ubisoft PR: You can ask me as many times as you like, but the answer will be the same.

GameSpy: Very well, let's move on. So, when will you announce the delay of the PC version?

Ubisoft PR: ...

Oh and if you want to see how well ubi "polishes" for a pc release with that time delay, look at the recent ghost recon...

There wont be any polish. They'll finish it the same time they finish the console version and start work on DLC.

In the past they said the delay was to work on the PC version. Which basically is to put some attention to make sure the port works. Maybe try it out. Tweak performance.

The suggestion PC people should use controllers, I hope is merely because that's the native control. Not because they won't continue with the keyboard and mouse support which they got pretty good in AC2 and nailed in AC2:B.

I personally can't use a controller for long with complicated games. From Dust or Limbo is fine. Arkham Asylum, my hand cramps up die to a hand injury for a while back. So keyboard and mouse support is important to me.

Loved AC2. AC2B was good and entertaining. AC2:R, I never finished. It was fine but eh..

they initially said this

“We’re definitely supporting PC,” said Hutchinson. “We love PC, but I think it’ll be PC with a controller. I don’t see us investing hugely in a mouse and keyboard setup. I think if you want to play on PC and you want to play Assassin’s Creed, you have a controller.”

then later they came out saying there will be mouse and kb support.

I do. 50" screen 1080p and a million extra graphics effects.

All from the comfort of a couch not a desk chair.

I hooked up my PC to my TV ages ago. Sat on couch and put a slab of wood over my lap with that non stick fabric stuff to prevent keyboard + mouse pad from slipping. fkn hate controllers.

I actually just bought a new gaming PC and my old one is still decent. So I am planning to hook that up to the TV for games that are better suited to that.

With a hand issue, maybe I can work through it by trying to use the controlled. For AC3 though, i just want PC and mouse.

I tried a controller with AC2:B to see how it'd go. After about 4 minutes I went.. "stuff this" went to keyboard and mouse and it was so smooth and easy.
