Following on from what appeared to be some premature bean-spilling, Ubisoft has now released the debut trailer for Assassin's Creed III, the latest addition to their successful stealth-combat action series and the first game in quite a while to feature a new protagonist.
Set against the backdrop of the American Revolution in the late 18th century, Assassin’s Creed III introduces a new hero, Ratohnhaké:ton, of Native American and English heritage. Adopting the name Connor, he becomes the new voice for justice in the ancient war between the Assassins and Templars. Players become an Assassin in the war for liberty against ruthless tyranny in the most stylised and fluid combat experiences in the franchise to date. Assassin’s Creed III spans the Revolutionary War, taking gamers from the vibrant, untamed frontier to bustling colonial towns and the intense, chaotic battlefields where George Washington’s Continental Army clashed with the imposing British Army.
Assassin’s Creed III is powered by Ubisoft-AnvilNext, a revolutionary new game engine that delivers breakthroughs in visual quality, character models and artificial intelligence. Assassin’s Creed III will feature a ground-breaking level of stunning graphics that bring Colonial America to life.
Watch the video below ( or click here for the HD video page) for some cinematic action of Ratohnhaké:ton in what Ubisoft "promises to be biggest, most ambitious" in the history of the company.
Assassin's Creed is due on October 31st 2012 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC with a Wii-U version also in the works (presumably in time for launch), although the press release neither confirms nor denies a simultaneous launch for the PC version this time around.
This will be interesting. Looks like there will be a bit more focus on guns (obviously), which will make it quite interesting with dodging. Just wonder if he will be wearing the white garment even though that will stick out like a sore thumb.
The trailer looks a lot better than I thought it might. It will be interesting to see how the game changes with the move away from the large city setting.
Just when gamers are comfortable with spelling and saying names like Altair and Ezio we now have to come to grips with Ratohnhaké:ton! Honestly, a semi-colon in the middle of a name, thats just rude.

The French Revolution in the 1790s would have been a far far far far FAR better setting.
