Time to flip the switch that puts your X-Wong's S-foils into attack position, because the long-awaited first-look at Star Wars Battlefront II's new Starfighter Assault mode is here! And this looks a lot bigger (and better) than the very simple version of ship-to-ship combat we got the first time around. Fighting among the Death Star 2.0 debris over Endor looks incredible.
And hints at similar heroes popping up as they do in the on-ground battles, with Darth Vader, Darth Maul, and even Yoda showcased briefly.
With EA Motive handling the single-player campaign in Star Wars Battlefront II, the Starfighter Assault mode is being led by none other than Criterion. Where you have to assume all that experience with vehicles of the car variety would come in handy. Although what we get to see above is very cinematic, it is running in-engine. Yeah, it looks incredible. Plus, the cinematic nature hints at objective-based encounters which is always a plus.
Personally speaking, this is the mode I'm most excited about playing. Star Wars Battlefront II launches November 17 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
This leaves me so torn, on the one hand I want to say f*** you to this game and its pay to win bulls*** lootboxes, but then on the other hand its Star Wars and it looks so damn cool :(
