Last week, Microsoft relaunched their much-loved real-time strategy Series Age of Empires with a new "fremium" title, developed by Gas Powered Games of Supreme Commander and Dungeon Siege fame (who continued the work started by some of the original AoE Ensemble Studios team).
“Age of Empires Online” is a bold new twist on a franchise so many have grown to love with the addition of more social capabilities and a customizable and persistent experience. Play the entire game for free or upgrade with a broad selection of Premium Content Packs. You decide, because in this new age, YOU RULE.
Our resident strategy buff Kosta has been putting the game through it's paces and you can find out all his thoughts in this
in-depth review.
Age of Empires Online can be found over at
ageofempiresonline.com as well as regular retail stores for Windows PC.

I suspect that this will get years of love from people looking to recapture AoE2 multiplayer times, as many of my friends still do.

If you can't even download/patch the game at your connection speeds maximum, it's basically dead to me.
