Since it was first announced at Gamescom in 2017, we've been waiting patiently to see what Age of Empires IV looks like in motion. And now that wait is over, with the first gameplay trailer debuting as part of Microsoft's X019 event. Although short and sweet it does give a taste of what's in store.
Check it out.
From the footage, which is labeled 'pre-Alpha', we can see that Age of Empires IV is set during the Medieval Times era, and will features closed encampments with destructible walls. And large scale battles with siege weapons. The visuals look great even in this early version, with highly detailed terrain, units, and structures.
But, there's no word on a release date or window with the collaboration between Relic Entertainments and Microsoft's new Age of Empires studio - World’s Edge - probably at least another year or two out. But, in the meantime Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition got a huge update 4K today - and it looks great.
