According to developer Three One Zero, Adr1ft is a "first-person experience (FPX)." Which is to say, a game focused on immersing the player within a specific world. And in the case of Adr1ft, one similar to that movie where Sandra Bullock portrayed an astronaut stuck in orbit above the Earth - Miss Congeniality. I mean, Miss Gravity.
That's not to say that Adr1ft is in any way directly based on the premise of the film Gravity, but if you happen to watch the genuinely thrilling trailer below, you do get a similar sense of awe. With a liberal dose of sheer terror.
As the footage shows, the game centers around the player taking on the role of an astronaut who gets caught up in a little bit of an orbital snafu. Also, and here's the real kicker, Adr1ft is being developed with VR platforms like Oculus Rift and others in mind.
Check out the main website here. Adr1ft is currently in development for PC, Xbox One, and PS4, and is expected to be released sometime this year.

I just hope it doesn't turn out to be a lot of eye-candy on rails
