Outside of a spin-off set in the real world it's been over a decade since the last numbered Ace Combat game. Where high tech dog-fighting and aerial craft blends with cinematic stories set in Earth-like locations with fantasy names. Case in point Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown takes place during a conflict between the Osean Federation and, err, the Kingdom of Erusea.

Out this week, January 1 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Ace Combat 7 will also feature a PSVR exclusive VR mode in addition to multiplayer across all platforms. Developed using Unreal Engine 4, the PC release is scheduled to follow on February 1.
