If I had to leverage a negative against a handful of the early Disney+ Star Wars stories, it's that too many of them took place on Tatooine or other already familiar locales. Star Wars is a huge universe with unknown planets and species and cultures just waiting to be explored and expanded upon. And today it looks like that's exactly what we're going to be getting with the forthcoming Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sequel from Respawn Entertainment and EA.
The dark times are closing in as Cal Kestis seeks out a safe haven far from the reach of the Empire. Five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, a more mature Cal Kestis must look beyond his lightsaber to find his destiny in the shadow of the Empire. Familiar friends and new allies - Cere Junda (Debra Wilson), Greez Dritus (Daniel Roebuck), Merrin (Tina Ivlev), and the newly introduced mercenary Bode Akuna (Noshir Dalal) - stand by Cal’s side against the Empire and galaxy’s most ruthless foes. Cal’s quest will take him to new planets and familiar frontiers in the Star Wars galaxy, including Koboh, which is the home of the Bedlam Raiders.Coming only for PC and next-gen machines, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor also looks stunning and infinitely playable for its visual spin on the Star Wars universe. We took exception to a number of gameplay elements with the first game, but we also lauded its story, visuals, score and its characters -- all of which appear to be intact for the sequel. Here's hoping they've addressed some of the other issues to potentially deliver one of the better Star Wars gaming experiences. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor releases this April 28 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. |
