DreamHack Melbourne is set to bring the gaming community together for another massive celebration of all things gaming and pop culture at the iconic Melbourne Park venue from April 28 to April 30.
Following the festival’s groundbreaking DreamHack Melbourne 2022 event, there’ll be something for everyone. DreamHack’s dizzying blend of bustling expo floor activities, live music, gaming, big BYO LAN parties, esports competitions, cosplay, content creator meetups, panels, and more are all set to return.
And for a closer look at what to expect, here are some of the highlights from DreamHack 2022.
The
Expo is where gaming and pop culture come together as all the latest names, games, and brands come together to present the latest cool toys to play with and seemingly countless cool spaces to hang out with friends in. From jumping into a high-end racing rig for some Forza to shooting hoops to checking out the latest gaming hardware and pop culture merch. There’s also art, cosplay, board games aplenty, and music everywhere you go. With plenty of giveaways, competitions, and events to discover, walking the DreamHack Melbourne floor will be something you won’t want to miss.
Live Music is one of the many reasons DreamHack Melbourne is the premiere festival for the gaming community, and 2023 will once again bring talented acts to the stage where a blend of dope jams and cutting-edge lights will get the crowd throwing their hands in the air. Presumably, because they just don’t care.
DreamHack Fighters is a competitive and inclusive event with prizes and heated head-to-head battles featuring some of the most well-known fighting games. From Super Smash Bros. to Street Fighter and everything in between, if you’re a fan of hearing the phrase “Round 1, Fight!” this is a chance for you to take in all of the action.
Panels for all corners of gaming will once again take the stage, with entertaining community events to deep dives into content creation and esports. This is once again a chance for fans to get close to some of the most beloved figures in the industry and directly engage on a more personal level. And there’ll be plenty of stuff to check out for students and those looking to break into the industry.
And speaking of community, content creators will be streaming live from DreamHack Melbourne 2023 at the revamped
Stream Studio, bringing creators and fans closer than ever before.
Of course, it wouldn’t be DreamHack without some world-class esports, and this year the
ESL Challenger returns to Melbourne. The world’s best teams will compete across three days of action-packed CS:GO competition, and you can be there on the ground to experience all the highs, lows, surprises, and emotional victories. The ESL Challenger tournament presents a direct path to the ESL Pro League; last year we got to see international teams go up against local ANZ talent so no doubt 2023 will be just as impressive.
Finally, there’s the epic
24-hour LAN Party where all you need to do is bring your PC and DreamHack will sort you out with an internet connection, power, and chair. There’s nothing quite like a large-scale LAN party, where rows of computers all light-up signaling some of the most intense and casual social gaming you’re likely to experience. At AusGamers we’ve played a part in the local LAN scene for decades, and DreamHack Melbourne bringing back that big ol’ LAN Party feeling is awesome.
This is all just a taste of what the world-renowned festival is bringing back to Melbourne. DreamHack Melbourne 2023 kicks off April 28 – April 30, 2023, at Melbourne & Olympic Parks.
