The 60% form-factor keyboard, with its TKL design, has grown in popularity in recent years and it’s not hard to see why. Outside of being cute, they deliver performance and features and present a mobile on-the-go option that no laptop keyboard can compete with. One of our favourite things to do with a 60% form-factor keyboard is put it next to a laptop to bring that desktop feel on the road.

There are of course a few drawbacks to going the 60% size, you lose dedicated keys for arrows and you really have to make the most of the Function keys to get access to a number of onboard features most full-sized keyboard users take for granted. But, outside of that nothing is lost in terms of mechanical performance. The Corsair K70 RGB PRO Mini Wireless is definitely up there, with some truly impressive features that go beyond the same excellent Cherry MX switches found inside its larger wired sibling.

For fans of physical customisation, the Corsair K70 RGB PRO Mini Wireless is a dream - not only are the keycaps easily replaceable (Corsair packs in a funky spacebar you can swap out) but you can also replace each individual switch. You could swap out the WASD keys for a more linear speedy switch and leave the rest as is. There’s even a swappable small backplate to add visual flair that blends well with the RGB strip and per-key lighting.

For a feature-paced mechanical keyboard, even in 60% form, the Corsair K70 RGB PRO Mini Wireless’s overall 0.64kg is pretty impressive - adding to the portable nature of the keyboard. You’ve still got a metal base plate, high-quality double-shot PBT keycaps and robust per-key RGB lighting. The 60% form-factor keeps things relatively snug with an all-key look, but the Corsair K70 RGB PRO Mini Wireless is comfortable to use.

With a detachable USB-C cable the Corsair K70 RGB PRO Mini Wireless doubles as a wireless and wired keyboard. It’s versatile and then some, with support for both low-latency 2.4 GHz Wireless, Bluetooth, and super-speedy wired that offers an insane 8,000 Hz Polling Rate. As that’s the number that measures the rate at which the keyboard sends data to the computer, the 8K translates to roughly 0.25 ms in latency. You’d need to be a superhero like The Flash to notice.

Also, the K70 RGB PRO Mini Wireless can be used with both PlayStation and Xbox consoles, which adds yet another layer of versatility.

The Red linear switches featured in our review unit feature 45g in actuation force, a 2mm actuation point, and 4mm of total travel, making them linear and speedy - but not overly so. As other keyboard makers look to create their own switches or opt for making speedier linear switches the norm, it’s good to see Corsair offering up some choice and keeping the classic Cherry MX Red feel as the baseline.

Although plug-and-play, when connected to a PC, the 60% form-factor kind of warrants an instant install of Corsair’s iCue software to really dig into the customisation. Onboard function keys add easy enough access to arrow keys, function keys, media controls, and more, but the very nature of this style of the keyboard means you’ll be setting up shortcuts and even macros to get the most out of the day-to-day potential.

No matter the keyboard, it takes a bit of time to adjust to the 60% form factor. Not only in terms of what keys are missing but with the somewhat cramped initial feel that comes with going smaller. Granted the lack of dedicated function keys can be a problem for some types of RTS and MMO-style games (not to mention taking screenshots in Steam with F12) but this is yet another trade-off that’s a part of the 60% form factor deal, and something you can mitigate with FN+ combos.

As a versatile wired and wireless mini keyboard, the Corsair K70 RGB PRO Mini Wireless is brilliant. The switches are responsive, the build quality is up there, and Corsair’s iCue software support opens the door to customisation. But the real clincher here is the modular hot-swappable nature of the Corsair K70 RGB PRO Mini Wireless. From replacing keycaps to replacing entire switches, it’s moddable and built to last - and take with you, wherever you game.
