Outside of the impressive build quality, sensor, and other features that come packed with the new Roccat Burst Pro Air, it’s worth noting just how stylish it looks in all-white. As a lightweight offering, it features a honeycomb-style design to shed some of that excess weight. But the “speed holes” are covered by some transparent matte plastic that then amplifies all of the RGB lighting found within. Not to mention, improving the comfort and feel.

Yeah, it goes without saying that this is a gaming mouse for those that want to “see the light”. As we’ve seen in other Roccat mice of late - full-body RGB is becoming a hallmark for the hardware maker. Naturally, there’s a lot more going on here than pretty lights and a sleek finish. Also available in black, the Roccat Burst Pro Air is a wireless gaming mouse built for performance, speed, and comfort. Bolstered by excellent hardware and software support.

There are not a lot of boxes this thing doesn’t tick, which certainly plays into the price point - but the results speak for themselves.

Grip It

The Roccat Burst Pro Air features a symmetrical design, meaning that it supports both left and right-handed grips, and in terms of overall size it has that recognisable grip that fans of this shape will feel at home with. Weighing in at 81-grams it’s also a lightweight mouse, and wireless with support for both 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth - which is cool to see. The buttons, scroll and click action are all comfortable and responsive too - with the only noticeable design drawback being the out-of-place “DPI” label on the DPI-switch button. Which stands out because it’s a tad larger than it should be.

The great thing is that on top of offering up to 100 hours of wireless usage (cut that down a chunk if you go full RGB), is that the charging cable is a high-quality flex cable that is barely perceptible. Coupled with the heat-treated PTFE feet and the result is impressively smooth movement - no matter if it’s in wired or wireless modes. There’s a level of care and attention to detail in the design here that is commendable.

Point-and-Click

Roccat’s Owl-Eye sensor (based on PixArt tech), offers up to 19K of optical sensing action, which is more than enough for competitive gaming. Plus, it’s NVIDIA Reflex compatible. Throw in 50g acceleration, adjustable lift-off distance, and the optical switches, and the hardware here definitely sits on the high end. It’s not all on the cutting edge though, as when firing up Roccat’s software you discover that there are only four RGB zones to tweak and five buttons to reconfigure.

Testing with a variety of different titles, the Roccat Burst Pro Air’s performance was fast, responsive, and impressive. From playing shooters like Apex Legends and Overwatch to firing up Total War Warhammer III to prep for that game’s massive Immortal Empires update - there wasn’t a single moment where accuracy, comfort, or versatility, was a question. The lighting options might be a tad limited for the price point, and Roccat’s software is more serviceable than pretty, but the Roccat Burst Pro Air is that rare wireless gaming mouse that we were just as happy using in wired mode as we were in wireless. Another solid mouse from Roccat, an impressive lightweight offering with over-the-top RGB action paired with impressive tech.
