You think people suggesting Biden has dementia are projecting concerns they actually hold about about themselves having dementia? That makes absolutely no sense.

Mostly peaceful protests by Proud Boys and other white supremacist groups in Philadelphia over the last few nights.

Try again Infi. Not hard to understand. You're projecting your concern that Trump has severe neurological issues onto Biden. The evidence is very clear on Trump having some kind of brain or mental disorder, and its psychologically uncomfortable for you to acknowledge that while strongly supporting him, so it has to be Biden that has a brain problem.

LMFAO compare the two performances on any given day. Trump gives 3 high energy rallies a day enthralling his crowd, Biden does a 30 min - I don't know what you call it it's not a rally. And then hides for the rest of the day.

Biden cannot even remember the name of his opponent. Give me a break. It hurts to watch.

Right, so Trump having more energy doesn't mean Biden has dementia, Infi. Nor does forgetting someone's name.

List of things Biden has forgotten over the past 6 months

- Which of 2 women was his wife and sister
- Who he is running against
- What office he is running for, multiple times
- Who is interviewing him
- What state he is in, multiple times
- What year it is
- His own name
- When he became VP
- The first line in the declaration of independence
- How many people have died due to coronavirus
- His position on fracking
- That his running mate has a husband, not a wife

I'm sure there's more but these are funny enough

So is the idea to make your posts a deliberate mastercraft of disingenuity as some sort of comeback to your 24hr post limiter you can't stop crying about or is it accidental?

I maintain they voted in Trump. They wanted change. You believe it was the Russians. I think Hillary made some real blunders leading up to the election. Firstly she was a Clinton. Many of them were not real happy with this Obamacare thing. Like I said Policy over person. I'd tended to favour Trump's than Hillary's, and whilst I haven't read much on Bidens yet. Chances are I'd still go with Trump's. This time he is on about law and order and the fear of living in Biden's world. I don't think it's enough. I don't think this law and order thing will work for him. He's overuse of "biggest' 'greatest' all that s*** he goes on with, and the excessive tweets have likely been enough for many.

I think they could come up with better candidates... because, regardless of policy, I reckon most people rely on their impression of the person... mixed with a bit of 'What's in it for me?"

Also like many, I want entertainment. Rick from Rick's Restorations or Les Gold would make an excellent POTUS and you know it.

One thing I've noticed is the dumb conspiracy numpty s*** is more or less isolated now to the prime numpties. In the earlier days there was uncertainty and you'd see normal people commenting on it and wondering about it. Now it's confined to the absolute true believers who have a sweet little system where they pretend it's inability to penetrate through to serious people actually makes the conspiracies more real. In fact they then get to indulge further because people not believing their weak bulls*** must be another conspiracy. mmmmm dat's some good conspiracy just hide me away from reality a little longer please.

Imagine if trump actually wins this election. Think back to 2016 when he won and when you tried to imagine just how badly he'd f*** up, how much worse he'd make an already terrible country. Now see how much worse it is than anything you possibly could have imagined. It will be the same again. If he wins we can speculate on all the awful things he will do and all the f*** ups he will make, but it will be orders of magnitude worse than anyone could predict.

so just to be clear, the concern is a political figure that may have lied on one issue? how do we rationalise that against Trump who lies all the time freely and unapologetically? or are we just pretending that he doesn't lie

Yes though one candidate is trying to make the pitch that he'd be a "return to dignity and honour in the office".

Could be worth 10 seconds of reflection on why peddling foreign influence may be more damaging for the "return to normal candidate".

I was at the pub on Friday arvo having a beer with my brother.

At the next table over there were two other blokes having a beer. Some random guy walked into the pub and saw one of these guys and walked over and got in his eyeline. They both did the excited "g'day mate!" of two friends that haven't seen each other in a long time and had a hug.

It's pretty awesome that in Queensland we can not only just casually go to a pub like it's any old day, but people are so comfortable that they can engage in PDA like this without fear of literally dying from something like this - a casual encounter with a mate.

As it has been forever, Queensland is great, and the government deserves a lot of credit for leading from the front and making the hard decisions. Congrats to the Labor government on a well-deserved win and thanks for keeping us safe.

edit: what I don't get about you people is that you want to be seen as normal people making rational decisions based off facts and logic, but when you have a shot at pretending you are this you have a salty little hissy fit and expose yourself as a complete and utter numpty. Why would you not say something like this - man I sure don't like that Labor government, but their decisive actions based off science have produced some solid results on this occasion. You can do this anywhere in NSW as well without the retarded border closures to states with nearly zero community transmissions.

The fact that QLD voted that fat dog Anna back in tells me 2 things:

a) The LNP in QLD are somehow even more incompetent than the most incompetent of QLD politicians (Anna)
b) QLDers are pussies, which is pretty obvious with the posts you see on a regular basis on this thread

We are just lucky
Really curious as to why you think this was luck and not a clearly, obviously direct result of the actions taken. What evidence would it take for you to believe that the QLD approach was the right one?

Everywhere that didn't lock down fastly and furiously is a mess, right? Like is there anywhere that has just YOLO'd their way through it that is not adding thousands of cases a day now?

I'd note that UK is now going into a four week lockdown. Way too late, and I don't know what the rules are (I saw somewhere that they're not letting some stores sell books? which feels, uh, like perhaps misplaced attention to very detailed and weird specifics, but I dunno, maybe there's new data showing paper is a bigger risk?). France doing something too.

But everywhere that has waited this long to try to do something is now copping the worst of both worlds. Economic pain from shutdown plus all the deaths (multiplied by the fact that the deaths are a hugely significant part of the negative impact to economy), plus it's now much much harder to get back to normal after such a half-assed approach. Prevention is always better than the cure!

The world's really holding its collective breath on this one. Will America have a chance at reclaiming its status of a stable, rational democracy or will it become an authoritarian failed state? It's scary to think that there is even a chance that trump will be reelected. My gut tells me it's something like 70/30 to Biden. It's amazing how excited a lawless, sadistic racist can get a certain section of the population and how much they're willing to ignore if it means that person can still be in charge.

Good luck America, you're gonna need it.

Yeah who could imagine hanging up on someone when the other side melts down like this? Biden might win it and you still squeal while telling others to put on their big boy pants.

Feeling good about the outcome then hoggy?

oh the "phobia" language. Now we have crafted irrational fear in place of something a person might not like.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-11-06/islamic-state-attacks-europe-risks-violent-far-right-backlash/12847526

The spate of jihadist attacks is concerning in and of itself, but more so because it feeds the anti-Muslim sentiment that fuels violent right-wing extremists and threatens social cohesion at a time of growing far-right sentiment.

The most left wing guy I talk to maintains significant bias regarding Islam. He is hardly a "right-wing extremists" or "fascist". We agree that all extremists are a concern.

Arachnophobia is an intense and irrational fear of spiders and other arachnids such as scorpions.
agoraphobia extreme or irrational fear of entering open or crowded places, of leaving one's own home, or of being in places from which escape is difficult.
Islamophobia dislike of or prejudice against Islam or Muslims, especially as a political force.

"Fasciphobia"

"Coalphobia"

"Nuclearphobia"

"Trumphobia"

"Broccoliphobia"

Can all journalists please now refer to people who support ANTIFA as "Fasciphobic"? Thank you.

Tending on Imgur today (2nd right now):

Left logic.

Even ABC reported the nutters out the front of the poll counting centre were a "handful" yet there are hundreds if not more carrying placards down streets "Count every vote".

We all know their democratic voting system is a joke. Trump got in cause "not a Clinton", and Biden will get in cause "Not a Trump". and even once Biden gets in he's looking at a Republican senate.

Last time I checked no one was holding a gun to business owners and forcing them to open their businesses. Anyone is free to stay home and hide like a little b**** from a virus with a 99% survival rate.

The problem Biden now has is he has not won in a landslide which what the Dems were trying to game all along with the disaster they call polling but was necessary to remove any shadow of a doubt that fraud could have swayed the result. Now, with the mountains of evidence of fraud growing to seas of evidence, the supreme court will have to intervene and a f***load of Dem run precincts will have their votes investigated. Not only that, the senile old f*** has bent over backwards to make his position clear that he thinks there is no fraud happening, so he is now f***ed and cannot allege fraud in Republican dominated precincts that went heavily against him late.

But, for all the tap dancing about Trump calling it early and how stupid it was, several complete morons on this thread have decided to do the exact same thing for Biden lol. The next few weeks are gunna be fun and probably hilarious.

They really do need to do away with the Electoral College and just use the nationwide popular vote for the US Presidency. The fact that Biden is ahead by over 4 million votes and the election remains 'too close to call' is evidence enough. This system's anachronistic lensing of votes has become the determinant of America's modern Presidential elections. It artificially creates a situation where a staggering minority of votes determine the outcome.

The only reason to oppose this reform is to protect the partisan interests of the Republican Party, who relied on the EC to translate a ballot loss into a win in 2000 and 2016. The EC is why they still do not have a result now as the GOP desperately cling to hope via the system's distribution of votes.

Its a Presidential election, one winner and one vote per citizen. Straight dope.

Always entertaining to see people talk about the EC as though the Republicans would be f***ed without it.

I guess you have to console yourself somehow, but it strangely never occurs to people who want to get rid of the EC that Republicans aren't playing to win the popular vote. Largely because it's been used decide zero presidential elections in nearly 300 years.

You can bet your bottom dollar the voter split in ca and ny would look a lot different, because Republican voters would be much more likely to show up.

And frankly the EC is proving it's worth right now. The democrats took WI, MI and PA for granted until 2016. They aren't going to make that mistake again anytime soon. And Biden isn't across the line yet.

And as for the 4 million. The "staggering minority" is probably going to amount 70 million votes.

November 4 was a disaster for the democrats. Republicans will hold the senate, the dems bearly held the house and it's not clear Biden will win yet.

He might.

But currently (last update I saw from about 3 hours ago) the maths says Trump can win AZ. GA and PA are going to a recount, and a recount could shift the needle enough (equally it might sure up Biden's vote). Those three states get Trump over the line.

It's not over yet and won't be before the end of next week. I'd say there is less than 100k votes in it.

The threshold of 0.5% over ~7,000,000 could get him there. But I agree anything more than 1% is hugely unlikely, to the point of basically impossible. And it's a total gamble, Biden could come back with more.

Again the point is simply that it's not a done deal yet, and the deal is likely to be done with under 100K votes one way or the other. S**** insane.

You need to present evidence of wrongdoing, first.

Simply alleging high treason by State election officials should not result in hundreds (thousands?) of Americans being audited and put through the investigative grinder. Powers of investigation are invasive and violent by nature and should not be invoked without evidence, especially not by the President!

Unless you're running a police state, ofc. Then its par for the course.

A lesson in accepting outcomes of elections from Mr Russian memes stole the election.

I know that you love to lash out this way because your a tiny brained insecure little man boy and deep down you know Biden might have etched out the tiniest of margins so you are aware the political winds are changing.

But the reality is Biden is almost certain going to be the first president in 30 years to have a hostile senate and the dems might hold on to the house by the slimmest of margins.

The Americans decided to hamstring Biden from the outset.

And the principle reason is people like you.

Andrew Sullivan can see it.

But Trumpism? It did far better than anyone expected. Down-ballot, many Republicans out-performed their nominal leader. The GOP made real gains in the House — during a health crisis and a recession — and will probably hold the Senate, effectively checkmating any truly progressive ambitions Biden might have had.
They’re nationalist, culturally conservative, geared toward the losers of capitalism as well as its winners, and mildly protectionist and isolationist. It is a natural response to the unintended consequences of neoliberalism’s success under a conservative banner. And it speaks in a language that working class Americans understand, devoid of the woke neologisms of the educated elite. It seems to me that this formula is a far more settled and electorally potent coalition than what we now see among the deeply divided Democrats.
Democrats have been telling us that Trump and his supporters were white supremacists, that he was indeed the “First White President” in Ta-Nehisi Coates’ words, that all minorities were under assault by the modern day equivalent of the KKK. And yet, the GOP got the highest proportion of the minority vote since 1960! No wonder Charles Blow’s head exploded.

We may find out more as exit polling is pored over, but in the current stats, Trump measurably increased his black, Latino, gay and Asian support. 12 percent of blacks — and 18 percent of black men — backed someone whom the left has identified as a “white supremacist”, and 32 percent of Latinos voted for the man who put immigrant children in cages, giving Trump Florida and Texas. 31 percent of Asians and 28 percent of the gay, lesbian and transgender population also went for Trump. The gay vote for Trump may have doubled! We’ll see if this pans out. But it’s an astonishing rebuke of identity politics and its crude assumptions about how unique individuals vote.

So yeah. The democrats should be extremely worried.

The thing I like the best is that regardless of the outcome, it is so easy to comprehend that life will go on and there's no need to scream at the sky, loot stores, set cars on fire or tear down statues - those are features of liberalism.

I hope the voter fraud is exposed, the courts make their decisions and then if they rule Biden won the election everyone moves on.

It would be terrible to relive the election loss every day like Hillary, the Democrats and the MSM have done since 2016.

Eh to be honest I'm kind of bummed out, the media had every excuse not to call this election for weeks. Instead they cashed in for short term ratings, they jumped the gun and now all the fun will be over. ffs even Fox has called it! I wonder if they will allow their people to call him 'president elect' yet lols

For the dota players - couldn't we have camped the conservatives' pool for a bit before killing the ancient? Its not like there is anything to fear from the spurious fraud allegations and desperate law suits. Gaben had this one locked at 100% win chance.

All jokes aside I just can't shake the feeling that the media is trying to convince people of the win rather than just let the recounts and courts do their thing like in 2000's Gore vs Bush. Which is also weird because they could have milked TONNES of ratings for weeks if they just sat on the 'too close to call' narrative. They could even have blamed Trump for it, not like he was going to concede and its not like there is actual evidence of fraud to be concerned about?

Were they actually worried about something real, like the possibility of violent insurrection from the right?
See how quickly these guys hate taking things to court when they think their guy has won? They were all about investigating the balls out of completely bogus things like the Steele dossier for 4 years now they come out of the woodwork when people suggest that maybe something might be up when a USPS employee goes public with allegations he was instructed to backdate absentee ballots.

Yeh I'm kind of shifting on this one, they should be able to file whatever they want so long as the tax payer is not on the hook for meritless cases. I assume the first judge in the chain has the right to just throw out suits (without right of appeal) that have no legal standing whatsoever?

I can't speak to that, but the argument being run in Pennsylvania is subtler than that.

As I understand it they are running the bush v gore argument that specifically in Pennsylvania in person voting was subject to a level of scrutiny that was so different to postal voting that it amounts to an equal protection violation. But I have not read the pleadings yet.

The gamble being that too many postal votes which should have been excluded from the count were allowed to count (for defects specified as disqualifing in the legislation, not necessarily 'fraud'). If that amounts to a reversal of the lead who knows. To be safe it would need to discard a net of nearly 80k Biden votes to get out of recount territory. It's big hill to climb.

"their grievance"

It's more like airing of the grievances. What's trump's score on post election lawsuits so far? 0/10 last I checked the other day.

It is cool how Trump is begging for more money despite being really rich.

Where's the evidence? The Tucker Carlson bit claims to have 25 people across multiple States where it's possible voter fraud occurred. They don't even know if they voted for Biden. They could have voted for Trump.

There's likely more voter fraud at polling stations than 25 dead people voting. Especially when there's evidence that sometimes the "dead" people are actually someone alive with the name and postcode as the dead person.

But sure, "tens of thousands".

Provide evidence.

Anyone think it strange that Biden supporters supposedly rigged the election (even in States with Republicans in office) for President but didn't bother to do so apparently to ensure they also had a majority in the Senate? And they also didn't bother to make sure they even maintained their current lead in the House and in fact have lost seats?

And unlike here in Australia where we have separate ballot papers for House of Reps and the Senate they have them on the same ballots usually....

Strange that. Bit of an oversight.

Just spit balling here but it might be much harder to rig 435 elections with thousands of candidates with out being obvious vs 1 election with 2 candidates.

But the most likely explanation for what we are seeing is voters dislike the democrats agenda and Trump's personality in vaguely equal measure so a pox on both their houses.

Having read the court filings there are many troubling allegations of what could be electoral fraud. There is probably a dozen different categories but for me four of the most egregious are:

- counting of ballots after counting for the night was officially ended and Republican observers sent home;
- issuing of postal ballots to every voter on a badly outdated electoral UNSOLICITED which were then submitted fraudulently on behalf of dead people (and possibly the living);
- failure to identify and verify signatures of postal voters
- refusal to permit election observers inside polling stations for ballot counts

What evidence will it take (#wewit) for you to be satisfied there is no meaningful voter fraud?

Just like in 2000 once the court applications are decided everyone has to move on. Certain voting authorities conducted themselves improperly, that's the evidence that will be tendered. Pennsylvania court decision has accepted an irregularity occurred when the State executive moved the date for acceptance of postal ballots outside of the legislation. I say just let the court cases run. 2000 took 37 days.

Just like in 2000 once the court applications are decided everyone has to move on.
By "moved on" do you mean "I now accept there was no voter fraud, Biden is the rightful President"? i.e., the evidence you will accept there was no fraud is simply enough court decisions saying there was no fraud in their jurisdiction that it leads to a Biden win? (... like how the Democrats so gracefully "moved on" in 2000!!!)

Because "move on" is a little vague; it's not clear if you mean "well there actually was voter fraud and the courts didn't act on it because [reasons], Biden is an illegitimate president but, well, what are you going to do about it"?

It's clear from your posts previous posts you are highly confident there has been voter fraud. So again, my question is not about the details of the specific frauds you believe have happened (I make no claims as to whether there was or was not fraud and am not interested in getting into the weeds).

It's about what is it going to take to make you believe deep down that there wasn't fraud, and that it was as fair as an election as America knows how to put on. If it is just the court decision saying so, then that's great. Simple, clear, reasonable, rational, and I assume it's literally what the law says anyway.

Because no matter the outcome, some of the highest officials in the last throwing shade is casting severe doubt on the integrity of the American election process (and democracy), and trying to figure out how to convince people that it was a fair election is what America should be focusing on. Because I am not sure there are a lot of people that are just going to accept the decision of the courts as being the same thing as "no fraud" (you know, because the President is literally going to Tweet to them that the courts are in on it, or whatever).

It's clear that fraud occurred, it's just whether courts will rule it substantial enough to grant relief.

When postal ballots are distributed unsolicited by helicopter, fraud is inevitable.

And the other problem is what relief does a court grant once the well has been poisoned?

no it is terrible. the individual states (particularly Democrat ones, notably the landing point, New York) have done a terrible job at preventing spread of the infection and providing health services. Americans don't listen to govt very well in the first place.

thankfully the Trump administration's Operation Warp Speed allocated $2b to Pfizer and now a fast tracked vaccine will be ready soon.

It's obvious that some problems are going to happen when 150 million people are voting. I am not denying there was some fraud.

I'll cheerfully stipulate that there was some kind of fraud on both sides by random individuals. This is just part of the background noise of every election. (FWIW every voting expert I have seen comment on this issue - at least, prior to this election - has said it is so tiny that it's not worth considering, but whatever.)

But you seem to be alleging there was some mass fraud that was some sort of conspiracy? Or am I misunderstanding what you are saying. Maybe you are just saying it is just regular old casual fraud but at a bigger scale? So we still end up not having an answer to my question about "meaningful" voter fraud :|

And the other problem is what relief does a court grant once the well has been poisoned?
I dunno what this means. If courts can't do anything then there's no rule of law and you're not living in a functioning democracy. Clearly, Trump and some Republicans think that this is not an issue based on all the court cases.
Like when you lose a poker hand. The other guy got lucky, it's bulls***, but I lost, the dealer just took my chips.
You're not alleging "luck", you're saying it's fraud. Cheating. In poker if you cheat I don't imagine people just "move on".
The Democrats have set the precedent for how to behave when an election is lost - undermine the President for the entire term.

With 10,000 polling organisations nationwide, and 50 states organising their own voting procedures there is no consistency to the management of ballots.

The filings allege individual states reorganised existing voting procedures to prejudice Republican voting, whether that be by mail in ballots, or ballot counting procedures, or ballot observation access. This indicates illegal behaviour on the part of Democrat controlled polling officials or State administrations, many of whom showed their Democrat affiliation on their sleeve while they worked. I am not sure that conspiracy is needed to be established, just illegal behaviour, or even a simple failure to follow procedure set out by the legislature.

On a third claim, for which standing was also found, the GOP voter plaintiffs actually won on the merits.

“[The GOP voters] have alleged that through the Presumption of Timeliness, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has created a different, extended Election Day than the one established by Congress,”

Overall their claims have been unsuccessful and they have to either appeal those rulings to Supreme Court or accept them. There has to be an end to the process to provide certainty and the burden is on Republican lawyers to compile compelling evidence.

You're not alleging "luck", you're saying it's fraud.

The justice game (especially in political matters) is not about merits, it is just an extension of politics. To that end it is just luck - which justice is allocated to your case, which witnesses turn up on the day and don't crumble under cross-examination etc. Furthermore, you will see in the rulings the reluctance of courts to interfere in elections. So a corrupt state administration always has the advantage.

It's statements like this which destroy the credibility of the process. The most secure election in history? Until a full audit of mass mail in ballot states occurs, there will be no knowing the extent to which dead people voted. Mail in ballots should always be an exception and not a rule for this very rule and mailing the entire electoral roll of a state unsolicited is flat out insanity.

And the other problem is what relief does a court grant once the well has been poisoned?
I dunno what this means. If courts can't do anything then there's no rule of law and you're not living in a functioning democracy.

If illegal ballots have entered the pool and not been quarantined there is no way of knowing which ones they are and thus being able to reverse them.

Handy memory lapse there on how the Republicans treated Obama, but anyway, I've said it before and I'll say it again - deciding on how to behave by basing your behaviour on the bad behaviour of your peers is weak

You are delusional if you think after the spying and FISA warrants and Russian peepee tapes Steele dossier and the #notmypresident #impeach45 #BLM bulls***, Democrats are going to be granted a clean slate. It is clear that the Democrats are fixated on a woke liberal agenda advanced by violence and lawlessness. The next four years will simply be a process of preventing as much damage as possible until another Republican President and hopefully flip the Congress in the meantime. Democrats lost Congressional seats at this election. So much for a blue wave - just hundreds of thousands of magical after hours votes that only voted for Joe Biden and not in the Senate or Congress. ;)

This presidential election was decided by 90,000 votes in 3 states, so all that tinkering paid off.

I can only read the rest of your post as "there is no evidence that will convince me that this election was not rigged by systematic Democrat (or whomever fraud" so not sure there's any point in me responding point by point.

I will make one comment on the most nerdy part though:
The most secure election in history? Until a full audit of mass mail in ballot states occurs, there will be no knowing the extent to which dead people voted
I am not an election expert but I have been following several for years (not intentionally; they are just computer security & cryptography people who have ended up in the field). I've always found it interesting because in my young naive days I was like "well why don't we just vote on THE INTERNET", before I'd spent half my life learning about the Internet and computers and how bad an idea that would be.

But one of the ways they check the integrity of elections is through something called "risk-limiting audits"; this is a statistical approach which does not involve checking every individual ballot - you can check only a very small percentage very quickly and end up with an extremely high degree of confidence. Unfortunately doing this automatically as part of the election process in every state has not been pushed into legislation yet, but there are organisations that are doing it in at least some states (I think I saw Georgia?).

I don't know all the details but several of the infosec/voting nerds I follow talk about RLAs all the time as being one of the most effective tools to ensure election integrity. One of them posted a link this morning to this report which if you have unlimited spare time is worth a read

edit: f*** I screwed up the link or something and it ate the rest of my post, but it was basically just nerding out on how experts view election integrity these days

No worse than our current in person voting system. I can't think of the last time my identity was validating for in person voting. You just show up and give them your name...then they ask you a dumb question like "You live at 1 Whatever St?". You just answer yes and you're in. They they use a ruler to mark you off of the roll manually. I can't imagine validating identity on the Internet to be any worse than that, if anything it would probably be more stringent because they aren't under pressure to push you through as quickly as possible.

OK, I'm finally ready to call the election.

- Unless he is assassinated or falls off the perch or otherwise disappears, Joe Biden will be inaugurated as 46th President of the United States, likely on the 20th January 2021.
- infi will not accept that this is valid, either by becoming mute altogether or refusing to answer questions specific to the topic.
- Alternatively, infi might say he accepts that it is valid and then later be shown to not mean it (for example by him not getting over it and bringing it up again later).

I'm opening a book, any takers?

The rule of law dictates that once legal avenues are exhausted then by that very nature the outcome is legal, so how in that case could it be argued as invalid?

The justice game is not about what is right. It is about what is politically preferable, especially obviously in matters of politics as compared to private civil matters.

When someone beats you at the game, you just have to tip your hat, say nicely played and then commit to playing the game better next time.

I kind agree, if it was one or two I probably wouldn't mind. A quick closure even for a few days or a week would greatly limit the amount of potential exposure. Just thinking about all the additional contact tracing, notifications, etc, QLD is going to have to do as a result of these SA cases is giving me a headache already.

When this conspiracy theory is over he and the others will simply move on to the next one, pretending the previous one doesn't exist if required. That's how these people live, one conspiracy theory to the next, forever on the run from the truth.

Who gives a f*** about robodebt. The fact that ScoMo just signed a massive new FTA with China less than 12 months after they let a pandemic loose and decided not to tell anyone about it is some of the most complete evidence that Australia is finished as a sovereign country. Watch Chinese companies move in like wildfire to steel and coal and that will be all she wrote for the Australian economy.

Even if there were 50 being investigated... it's hardly "entire" and "never anything to be proud of" is just ridiculous and disappointing level of appreciation for their efforts.

For the last 4 years the Trump administration has been undermined every day.
1. Illegal FISA warrants spying on campaign.
2. Democrat party paying for fake Russian intelligence pee pee tapes dossier
3. Democrat FBI agents using fake garbage to commence legal processes, including the Mueller investigation.
4. The Fake news MSM striding hand in hand with this baseless narrative when in reality CNN covertly admits that #russiacollusion is a "nothingburger".
5. Don't forget Hillary roaming the countryside on her speaking and book tours claiming she was robbed by a few Russian Facebook ads.

There is no goodwill left in American politics - the Democrats will stop at nothing to destroy their opponents. It is important for the Trump campaign to present their evidence as so far it seems court appearances have been over procedural matters.

So let's keep the theatrics running as it's pure gold. OMG did you see Rudy's hair dye!? Hahhaah.

if you actually worked in logistics you would know the types of masks made in China cannot generally be certified in America and the cost to transport from Australia is prohibitive.

I have hundreds of thousands of facemasks and other PPE for my businesses and other Australians. I also donate large amounts to charity.

but, of course a lot of the highly popular masks people are buying are Made in China. I guess if you're nitpicking about certification you're talking about for specific use in aged care homes or something.

but anyway maybe I misunderstood, I thought you were selling them to end users

Gore lost 5 consecutive recounts in Florida in 2000 and the supreme court stepped in to stop the endless recounting.

I have never once heard him described as taking a s*** on democracy despite it being banana republic stuff.

So far as I've heard oral argument in Pennsylvania started this week.

The amending and reamending of pleadings has been shambolic but you are allowed to do it.

The dominion business sounds like bollocks so far, but the relaxation of mail in requirements and the handling of scrutineers in Pennsylvania are real problems.

A side that definitely didn't cheat would definitely have this big a problem with well established legal processes being duly completed.

A bit like the side that has a problem with canvassers attending the White House while simultaneously having no problem with said canvassers having themselves and their families threatened and doxxed.

There's one side that apparently has wacky election fraud conspiracy theories, and there's another side assaulting families on the streets of DC. The most amusing part is watching the big brains on this forum back the latter.

I'm not sure a university recounting according to an interpretation of the law heard and rejected by the SCOTUS is a particularly strong argument.

And while Florida may have been closer that of itself doesn't undermine his right to litigate.

They are saying the were denied the opportunity to properly assess over 600k ballots *and* Pennsylvania's rejection rate is *much* lower this year than in previous years.

It's absolutely possible enough of them could be rejected under more vigorous review to alter the outcome even with an innocent explanation.

It's not conclusive evidence of a plot to steal the election but it's enough to have a second look. Pennsylvania has announced its going to conduct an audit of it election so I'm not going to entertain everything was just fine.

In all likelihood it probably the case Trump narrowly lost the election. But I simply don't agree it's some giant afront to democracy to contest election counts the *states themselves* have conceded they need to review.

This especially so when polling shows 78 of democrats mistakenly believe russia changed the 2016 election results. As infi said the goodwill has been completely sucked from American politics.

The same thing that happened to Hillary when Comey admitted she broke the law but refused to prosecute because apparently according to the FBI her intentions weren't criminal when she decided to delete 30,000 emails. These establishment politicians are protected by all levels of government and are covered for by their propaganda agencies (MSM).

When the left whinges about Trump making a transition difficult, you have to laugh at the level of hypocrisy. This treasonous behaviour was par for the course for the last 4 years and now the left thinks that "unity" is possible. The US is finished as a democracy regardless of the results of any future elections.

The evidence of fraud is there. It's whether the evidence currently public amounts to throwing out tens of thousands of ballots as illegitimate is the question. The other question is what evidence, if any is still to be presented. Not sure if you morons are pretending there was no fraud or not because that's what it looks like and you've not admitted to anything different. Concluding no fraud at this stage is as stupid as concluding massive, multi-million ballot fraud.

If the last 4 years has taught us anything though, it's that you won't actually look at the evidence. You'll instead look at the twitter mood and bandwagon it. I bet you somehow think dumped ballots is not evidence of fraud. Like Mickey Mouse dumped those ballots for no reason.

After this I would have refused the credit for beating COVID-19 (note: a thing that isn't even close to happening yet), because if the deaths are not my responsibility, and if a national response is not my responsibility then how can any successes be to my credit?

A federally devised and implemented strategy of delivering the best education and resources possible and a national contact tracing and testing scheme is all it would have taken, but he wasn't even able to deliver on that basic concept.

as I said when this started, if they didn't want to be responsible, they should have shut the f*** up, thrown their hands up in the air, and gotten out of the way, if they thought it was just a states issue. (it's obviously not just a states issue)

but the administration did the exact polar opposite of this - lied, dissembled, tried to evade responsibility and then in the same breath trying to take credit for everything that they did

you want to talk about what they should have done by totally ignoring all the stuff that they /did/ actually do

states have some share of the blame but it was massively, incredibly, hugely exacerbated by the moron in chief. too much of the state's share of blame comes from the fact that some significant group of their citizens paid attention to the sheer noise being thrown down at any opportunity by the federal government

like any state had an even remote chance with even some small percentage of idiots running around with no masks denying it was a problem and calling it a hoax etc - let alone the vast numbers that actually did, parroting the attitudes that they saw coming down from on high from the administration

if he'd literally shut up and gone golfing for the last 9 months it would have been staggeringly less damaging than what he did do

there is a laundry list of just totally obvious things the federal govt could have done, beginning with simply shutting down movement of plague carriers into the country sooner and more effectively (e.g., not exempting citizens), or at the very least providing emergency federal support for quarantine and testing of returning citizens. CDC could have been empowered to step up and manage instead of treated like a liability and political football. federal funding programmes like PPP and the other one for citizens could have been better planned and executed (was a s****how that accomplished nothing other than corporate welfare to the tune of a trillion federal dollars)

meanwhile deaths are up 80% from last month and hospitalisations over 100%. it's still going up. still nothing is going on to stop it.

history is going to look back on this period and those that were like "yes well maybe coronavirus is bad but at least it's not Hillary" and wonder what the actual f*** was going on in the heads of people

edit: thinking further, if we start with the premise that the US federal govt is limited by Constitution in such a way that it is legit incapable by design of preventing a plague from ravaging the country, then I would suggest that system of govt is broken by design

A virus that's estimated to have nearly 30% of carriers asymptomatic is "lethal".

Are you more impressed with Scomo's handling of Covid? S*** he managed it well. Nothing to do with states / territories eh.

You likely got QLD State Covid communications and dribs of national news memes and social media regarding AU, UK, USA and NZ from your echo chamber sources.

Near 1/2 the nation hate Trump but he somehow influences these people when he talks/tweets his s***... and who echos and bounces that s*** around? the TDS crowd. You guys actually created the menace that he was by consuming the excessive irrelevant garbage these d******* journalists and their machine are providing.

Jesus h Christ. Don't allow citizens to return home. The criticism of "fascist" Trump is that he wouldn't strip citizens of an absolutely fundamental right. Hillary definitely would have done that. Turns out the vaccine is just her pissing in your eyes while sniffing Andrew Cuomo's fingers after he's banged your wife.

Look forward to a lengthy post about Australian universities paying cash rewards to international students to subvert Australia's quarantine effort.

Yeah and you'd be fundamentally wrong. Constitution doesn't allow citizens to be stranded in a foreign country by decree of the president is a totally serious well thought out criticism.

yes, it is. Same as in Australia. The National Cabinet in Australia operated by states' consent - and each state implemented outcomes differently - as you would be well aware. The US is not a small country or an autrocracy, so it also requires cooperation of the federation of states. Don't worry every journalist I have read is ignorant to this legal fact.

Trump shut down flights from china in Feb much to the resistance from Democrats. Govt literally cannot prevent citizens from returning home - they can be subject to quarantine.

You seem to struggle with understanding the American culture which is bizarre because you have lived there. Americans don't trust their govt, they don't listen to their government and they have a constitutional structure which in most states keeps them largely free from govt day to day management of their lives. They also have constitutional rules which prevent states from shutting their borders.

To be blunt, attributing the US covid situation to Trump is just plain retarded. Contract tracing is done with small outbreak situations. Don't be so naive and get a little perspective on the situation.

Speaking of hypocrisy
- New York - Governor Cuomo says don't spend Thanksgiving with family. Wear a facemask when getting a haircut. Cuomo is having Thanksgiving with his family, and his brother got a haircut without a facemask (as did Nancy Pelosi).
- California - Governor Newsome says don't go to restaurants unless outdoors - he goes to an indoor restaurant.

Isn't the brazen hypocrisy of these moralising lecturers just a little grating?

OK I feel bad that I didn't reply because it's rare that you actually reply to more than one line in one of my long diatribes so even though you missed the more substantial parts of what I wrote I'll have a crack.

yes, it is. Same as in Australia. The National Cabinet in Australia operated by states' consent - and each state implemented outcomes differently - as you would be well aware. The US is not a small country or an autrocracy, so it also requires cooperation of the federation of states. Don't worry every journalist I have read is ignorant to this legal fact.
maybe the journalists are too busy exploring the cognitive dissonance of people who claim the US federal government has no power and couldn't have done anything anyway and then go on to make a laundry list of all trump's many great successes in dealing with the quarantine?!

fwiw in Obama's much-mentioned pandemic plan that was allegedly provided to the administration, it mentions the following federal agencies as being critical as part of the pandemic response: Dept of State, USAID, HHS, CDC, NIH, FDA, OASH (Office of the Assistance Secretary for Health), HHS Office of Global Affairs, DOD, USDA, DHS, DOT, and others).

I am confident all of these agencies have had some involvement in dealing with the pandemic to date in at least some capacity, although whether it was done in a coordinated manner as devised by whatever working group put together "Obama's plan" (or any of the other no doubt zillion pandemic plans that have existed prior to this) I don't know. but it seems unlikely.

so when you ask "what are you suggesting the US Federal govt should have done?", I think about the sheer, staggering might of the US federal government across its many varied agencies (you know, the might that your ilk try to fight at every opportunity - often for good reasons many of which I agree with, but the fact is it is there). I think about the fact that when I was a US taxpayer, the biggest part of my paycheck went to the federal government. I think about the fact that the federal government is solely responsible for border security and it has been a never-ending painful topic of discussion forever and that the biggest risk in a pandemic is travellers bringing more pathogens into the country.

are you referring to Fauci or Trump - did Fauci recommend for or against masks? Just remind me? Which one is the doctor?
again weird inexplicable Fauci hate outta nowhere. I'm still largely in news avoidance mode but is there some new campaign against this guy I'm not aware of?!

but I'm not going to comment on this, it's just evasion to try to change the subject from trump being a serial liar and having made a total mess of coronavirus by lying about it and dismissing the risk continuously. there is just no defence against this other than trying to change the subject
even mainstream factcheckers admit trump did not call covid a hoax. Fauci was the one who said don't wear masks.
this is a strawman and not what I said, see above comment about ignoring

Trump shut down flights from china in Feb much to the resistance from Democrats.
so... he can do things? but it's the democrats fault somehow (even though he did things)

so Govt literally cannot prevent citizens from returning home - they can be subject to quarantine.
the federal government is the only entity that can make decisions about things crossing its borders, which is why it's ultimately responsible. even trump actively considered a proposal to temporarily block citizens returning home - i.e., even if it's something they "literally cannot prevent" (provably false, see 9/11 and the shutdown of all air traffic), they can just pass a new law.

anyway it was just an example - even if it was "literally" impossible (it wasn't) they could have at least provided federal support for forced quarantine
You seem to struggle with understanding the American culture which is bizarre because you have lived there. Americans don't trust their govt, they don't listen to their government and they have a constitutional structure which in most states keeps them largely free from govt day to day management of their lives.
yeh I also think it's weird how I've lived in the US for 7% of my life, have American family and friends, lived in that famous democrat bastion *checks notes* Ohio and somehow I'm the one that struggles to understand America?! I dunno what it would take for my experience to

To be blunt, attributing the US covid situation to Trump is just plain retarded. Contract tracing is done with small outbreak situations. Don't be so naive and get a little perspective on the situation.
you must be upset because I don't recall you ever abusing anyone here before!!
Isn't the brazen hypocrisy of these moralising lecturers just a little grating?
hypocrisy is often terrible and I too hate it when politicians tell us to do one thing and then do the other. if a green politician got up and told me to be worried about the environment but then I found out they commute alone in a diesel 4wd I would be the first person to click the little sad or angry face on a facebook post to register my discontent.

but it is also hypocritical to point out moments of hypocrisy amongst [insert your favorite team here] and then ignore it when it happens in [insert name of team you don't like here]. if you want to have a hypocrisy-off between, say, dems and republicans, you'd have to start with the "there's always a tweet" captain of the universe who, to his credit has never (afaik) deleted one of his mega-hypocritical tweets of the last decade (tho to be fair maybe he doesn't know how).

(a hypocrite sounds like it would be a fun web game to make - a little tracker for each event that occurs and a panel of people can rate its hypocrisy and then at the end of each month everyone can compare scores)

again, ignoring all this bulls*** I just wrote - let's stipulate that the US federal government can do nothing. unless I'm missing something, this implies that the US is completely and utterly defenceless against pandemics, by the design of their system of government. we can see the costs of that failure of design - 200k+ dead, rate of infection + death increasing. they're nowhere near the worst part yet; some hospital systems are starting to get overwhelmed which will be a big problem. they've just had thanksgiving.

if that is the case, then my position is simple: the US system of government is defective by design if it cannot protect its citizens from a deadly pandemic.

Yeah perhaps a slightly more accurate statement might be that journalists (and apparently people who read their work) are busy constructing false dichotomies in which the federal government can either do everything or nothing and the basic tenant of federalism that states and the feds need to work in concert is ignored (in this case when Trump suggested limiting travel in and out of New York Cuomo refused, and seeded the rest of the country). Or as is more likely the case they just don't know because they weren't taught ultra basic civics.

So did Obama's plan detail which of all those federal agencies has the legal authority to refuse citizens into their own country? Reckon it's a nice round number.

Mmm that deathly silence. That's the sound of a narcissists shame. I know a post like this may coax them out but there's bound to be some impotent rage backed up that needs to come out and the sooner that happens the better. I wonder if they'll just pretend they never really supported trump. That this final act of anti-democratic sabotage was simply a legal process to confirm the integrity of the election. Maybe they'll just continue living and promoting the lie of MAGA forever. That would be a shame because I always wondered what this trump endgame stage would be. Boring if it just continued.

What's going to be interesting is when things starting getting turned over by the new administration and we find new levels of depraved criminality that never could have been imagined. Watch the prime numpties try to conspiracy their way out of that when it happens. That feeling trump has when everyone turns their backs on him will be the same feeling they have when everyone decent in their lives treats them with the lifetime disdain every trump supporter deserves and hopefully has coming to them. It's going to be good.

I listened to the witness testimony at yesterday's 14 hour hearing and read the affidavits. I guess they are all fake.

Humans have a tendency to stick their fingers in their ears and go LALALALALA when confronted with something that conflicts with their internal narrative.

https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/elections/whistleblowers-allege-thousands-vanished-ballots-allegations-backdating

Sworn testimony of several whistleblowers on Tuesday alleged what one election integrity activist is calling "potential ballot fraud on a massive scale," with multiple eyewitnesses testifying to alleged suspicious behavior in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

In a press conference in Arlington, Va., the Amistad Project — a civil liberties initiative of the Thomas More Society — presented the testimony of three individuals who claim to have witnessed apparent voting malfeasance during the 2020 election.

One, Jesse Morgan, a truck driver for a subcontractor with the United States Postal Service, claimed that a trailer he was driving, one full of potentially upwards of 288,000 ballots, disappeared from its parked location at a Lancaster, Pa. USPS depot after Morgan dropped it off there. Morgan had transported those ballots from Bethpage, N.Y.

The subcontractor also reportedly experienced "odd behaviors" from USPS personnel, behaviors which postal experts have said in sworn statements "grossly deviate[d] from normal procedure and behavior," according to a press release from the Amistad Project.

Another whistleblower, Nathan Pease of Madison, Wisc. — himself also a subcontractor for USPS — alleged that he was told the postal service was planning to backdate tens of thousands of ballots in the days after the Nov. 3 election in order to circumvent the ballot submission deadline.

A third witness, Gregory Stenstrom — who testified at a Pennsylvania legislature hearing in Gettysburg last week — claimed to have witnessed a Dominion Voting Systems vendor inserting jump drives into voting aggregation machines in Delaware County, Pa. Election officials also reportedly commingled various jump drives from aggregation machines, potentially frustrating the ability of auditors to properly certify the election results.

the level of co-ordinated fraud targeted to specific counties right where it would impact the outcome the most is astonishing.
- mail voter fraud
- vote duplication
- acceptance of illegal votes
- mishandling of ballots - breaking chain of custody
- epic questions over the computerised ballot systems

The US's election systems are pathetic. All these concerns were raised by Democrats in 2016, so in 2020 they opted to exploit them. Now we see if their checks and balances are capable of rectifying such extensive fraud.

Absolutely they are, but if there is fraudulent ballots - surely these ballots can be brought up as direct evidence? It should be able to be put next to a legal ballot and the differences pointed out.

Well that's kind of the issue isn't it.

The courts in Pennsylvania have been declining to do a detailed review because the ballots have been separated from the envelopes and so it would be difficult to provide a meaningful remedy. Because the fraud evidence such as it is would apply to the envelope not the ballot itself.

Hence we are off to the Supreme Court now.

Given that Biden just announced he wants to appoint a woman to head of OMB who pushed the idea that Russia hacked into voting machines and changed votes in Pennsylvania in 2016, which to be clear has even less evidence than voter fraud, you'll have to excuse me if don't get my panties in a scrunch over the strength of fraud claims.

Yeah, like this woman, who has signed an affidavit. Even Rudi tries to get her to shut up.

With clarity of thought and command of the facts like that looks like Biden overlooked a solid veep.

Well done Sleepy Joe lol.

Notice the antagonism from China towards Australia has had an uptick since the start of Nov? It's almost like China knows how tough the next guy will be on them and is acting accordingly.

Same day as electoral college voted.

Though I think the headline might read "Pete Buttigieg just claimed,

Good job on reading the number. You may have noticed some weird black squiggly stuff on a white background. It's kind of important as well.

It is important to note that it can take several weeks for death records to be submitted to National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), processed, coded, and tabulated. Therefore, the data shown on this page may be incomplete, and will likely not include all deaths that occurred during a given time period, especially for the more recent time periods. Death counts for earlier weeks are continually revised and may increase or decrease as new and updated death certificate data are received from the states by NCHS. COVID-19 death counts shown here may differ from other published sources, as data currently are lagged by an average of 1–2 weeks.
The amount of COVID dead is well known and relatively easy to track. Because of this people have been able to use maths to calculate a more accurate reading that the CDC aren't able to achieve due to the strict certification mentioned in the paragraph I quoted. They use the same sort of maths that let us know trump lost the election in early November. How are you dealing with that one btw? Still struggling a bit?

Now I know this was a complete waste of time explaining to you, because you're an absolute piece of s*** and if something isn't convenient you'll discard it for the comfort of a lie.

I didn't say it was good. The data indicates it has not affected overall mortality trends.
nah. that is not what the data indicates and anyone that says otherwise is a jagoff because a) they are trying to pretend COVID is not that big a deal in the US to try to cover up for the fact that a pandemic has raged through the country and killed 300k people that otherwise would still be alive but aren't because of a total spectacular failure of leadership or b) they are stupid and are sticking their fingers in their ears and go LALALALALA because they're confronted with something that conflicts with their internal narrative

here's an analogy:

there's a flood

your house and all your neighbours and half your city is under water

but the average water level on the planet is lower so at least we don't have to worry about floods any more

you have been duped by dumb people who don't understand numbers spreading lies about them (which you are now contributing to); it should be pretty easy with a bit of thinking to figure out how it's possible for total deaths to be down while excess deaths is out of control but if you can't I can make you a spreadsheet or something, if you tell me what level of evidence it would take to convince you (I assume impossible if you're not convinced by the CDC's own excess mortality graphs

but if you just want something in meme form then here's the first thing I saw in that stupid twitter link you posted when I scrolled down for one sixteenth of a nanosecond below the fold which is also a good explainer as to why what that tweeter you posted is a lie! very handy: https://twitter.com/BadCOVID19Takes/status/1338229790856318988

trying to use weasel-words like 'mortality trends' to hide the fact that you're trying to spread some message that actually covid is good because less people have died overall is gross

reminder that 3k people a day are dying that weren't before

I think this thread has run its course; it's a boring, frustrating distraction from the ostensible purpose of this forum.

It used to be a kinda fun sideline diversion with all the other topics but given the forum is effectively dead, allowing this now-poisonous mess (which I am guilty of contributing to and also feel guilty for abandoning moderation duties some years ago which let it get to this point) to continue to run unchecked, unguided, and unmoderated is depressing and alienating for any new users. Noone else is willing to moderate it and the normal approach of just appointing a community member to do so will not work in this thread without additional tools [1].

I propose that, until such time as we have more development time available to us or better options for self-regulating discussions [2], we:

1) lock this thread
2) disallow future general politics threads
3) only allow limited numbers of politics-related threads that impact on significant new issues that involve some conjunction of "australia", "gaming", "technology" (e.g., the R18+ debate, banning of games, government censorship of media, copyright and piracy, privacy and digital rights).
4) reinstate some form of more active moderation to keep things on an even keel [3]

If people would like to discuss this idea for a bit that would be useful.

Note: I'm only going to make this suggestion to the current admins and then it's up to them what they do. I have no time and less interest in moderating this thread (or forum) at this point in time so it's not up to me. But I would like to be an active participant in and/or creator of interesting discussions.

At the end of the day though I'd rather have a dead forum than see this thread go any further.

The forum was built to provide people who had a shared passion for video games to communicate with each other about them and seeing it used as a wedge to drive people apart on political issues - instead of important issues like why PC is better than console or why Quake 3 is better than Counter-Strike or how noone can see more than 60fps - makes me sad.

Again, I'm not an active admin (whatever it says under my image to the contrary[4]) so cannot and will not take action on this myself. If you have feedback for the admins on this topic about how stupid an idea this is then I recommend using the AG contact page.

[1] One thing I was thinking of was letting fpot and infi be moderators with one more person to be a third party arbitrator who could be a sort of meta-moderator but would require too much additional development
[2] I have been working on something in my spare time for several years that I hope will lend itself to improvement of public discourse and one day I hope to find time to finish it and beta test it here!
[3] hacking in a simple 'report post' feature for things like genuine cases of abuse or rule-breaking and bringing it to the attention of current admins should be pretty easy and something I could put together
[4] funny story about that 'admin' tag under names: it's hacked into some weird part of the database directly with no administration system to control. It's not actual an 'admin' flag - it's just straight text that can read anything. I simply have no f*****' memory whatsoever of where it is in the massively convoluted database and don't think anyone else does.

how noone can see more than 60fps
It was actually noone can see more than 30 fps.

This thread is like the sarcophagus covering Chernobyl. A huge, ugly monstrosity of poured concrete and cluttered steel (yes I know they fancied it up a bit of late) that keeps the toxic elements out of the more pleasant parts of the forum. Notice how the truly depraved f**** never really venture out and post in normal threads. Working as intended.

Perhaps if this thread was made invisible to new users or something. Honestly I reckon the greater contributor to this forums demise is the news spam, and having multiple threads created for one game/topic. Things need to be condensed so discussion can be isolated and then form naturally in one thread that contains all the information required for discussion to take place. I'd find the mass of threads with single digit replies for more intimidating than a bunch of nerds screaming at each other in a politics thread and most new users are treated pretty gently should they post in here. I understand the commercial nature of the forum, and how many topics means many clicks etc etc.

The best part about fpot is he says this retarded s*** completely unironically when literally 5 minutes ago we found out a honeypot Chinese spy was f*****g someone on the House Intel Committee. And like 10 minutes ago Nancy Pelosi was caught with a Chinese spy on her staff. That's 2 critical positions (that we know about) in the US legislative branch that are documented to have been compromised, and haven't been debunked by a special counsel investigation by the way.

Weird that MI at least won't release the findings of the voting machine forensic investigation. More behaviour consistent with a side that won fair and square.

I think this thread has run its course; it's a boring, frustrating distraction from the ostensible purpose of this forum.

This fascist who was voted out of power executed a generally "top bloke" Keith Dwayne Nelson (August 28)

Nelson, 45, was executed for the 1999 rape and murder of a 10-year-old Kansas girl.

Pamela Butler had been rollerblading in front of her home when Nelson abducted her, according to the DoJ. He raped her before strangling her to death with a wire and burying her body in a forest behind a church.

Fpot thinks "fascists" executing people who abduct 10 year old girls, rape them, strangle them with wire and burn their corpses will bring about the end of the "rule of law" and the damage to democracy will never be undone.

Call me old fashioned, but the buck stops with the boss at the top. Whoever was in the top job when the decisions came to close the border late falls on their sword, they are ultimately responsible as it happened on their watch. Economic, medical, and other advice was given, a decision was made. So the buck stops there. Mistakes get made though, just because he is the PM does not mean he is immune to mistakes. The advice to the public from the PM was very different from the advice to the public from say Donald Trump. So I don't believe they're comparable examples. I'm not sure if I saw Scomo up on Twitter saying it was all just going to magically disappear.

Taken as a given that civics is a seriously under taught subject and so noone has the remotest clue who is responsible for what in a *federal* style of government, it's not there is nothing to criticize in the US response. It's the idea that the US was uniquely bad.

But I'm sure being a smart fellow you'd be able to point me to things Biden or Clinton would have done differently within the legal powers of the president that would have made a difference.

And if your answer is Biden would have shut borders to foreigners sooner we dont have anything further to discuss.

"Actually, Trump is the anti-corruption candidate, as I learned on youtube" is probably a good epitaph for 2020

As if Military would vote for lawless meth heads that burn down cities and topple historical statues.
welcome back baz!

a huge number of US military f***** hate trump because of his staggering disrespect to veterans and his kowtowing to the Russians, amongst his many other failings. I have American family members who have served (mostly Army) and I can tell you with certainty that there is more military pressure in their veteran circles against Trump than most civilians can fathom. he is f***** despised for his attitude towards the military.

(this is where some galaxy brain will come in and say "well duh that's because he is the first ANTI WAR PRESIDENT" but turns out a lot of veterans are also anti-war, for some weird reason. you can be anti-war and still believe in strong military ideals and respect for the troops)

pls stop watching youtube

Do you guys find it frustrating that alt. right lovers seem to base their information on the alt.right echo chamber?

Was having this argument with a mate last night and this morning, and I just don't understand how their critical thinking works.

1. Someone with psychological issues says something contraversial
2. Other people with psychological issues agree and back it up with information other crazy people have said in the past.
3. Friend reads original post, and agrees based on "evidence" of random youtubers.
4. I ask why NYTimes, FoxNews etc. don't write about it.
5. Friend explains that "Lamestream" "MSM" are anti-trump and its all a cover up. Points to random youtubers who say its real.
6. Friend says "Well, I hope it isn't true, because its a terible thing to happen" - when you can't win the argument, just go passive and woose out.

Super frustrating for me.

Super comforting for them. Any conspiracy theory can be amplified no matter how lacking in merit it is. Lamestream fake news says something isn't real? Well that's because they're in on it/biased/cover up and it actually makes the conspiracy theory more real! For reference see every conspiracy theory ever.

You'll be able to spot the trump muppets easily. They're the ones posting endless dumb conspiracy theories and getting all pissy pantsed when people make fun of trump.

coincidentally this popped up on my tweeter yesterday - it's just an anecdote, but it shows how information is being twisted by the various youtube and s***post blogs out there to push agendas

it is important to remember that many, many of the people [1] making these bad youtube videos and terrible websites filled with false information that people want to believe are doing so less because they're trying to push an agenda, and more because this sort of clickbaity s*** makes them cold, hard cash because of ads [2]

making things look somewhat factual but focusing on triggering that deep gut reaction of synergy has been weaponised against us and you should be aware of it with every link you click on (remember when we practically had a "no news.com.au links" here? f*** those were the good old days)

[1] probably most, but I don't know for sure
[2] install an ad blocker. even better install Firefox and then an ad blocker. yes, I realise this is an irony coming from me. in fact I just updated the rules thread to remove the line about ad blockers

Newly elected Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, a staunch Trump supporter, says the state's "elections should be decertified." Asked if that applied to her election on the same ballot, she said, "We're just talking about the President's race."

Both ends of the spectrum do this. It's not psychological 'issues' as much as confirmation bias. 'Psychologically' for some people who take things to the extreme, many of them share some personality traits that are also lured into other extremism like excessive religious worship, pyramid sales. Scientology. They are looking for a cause, because they think their life lacks meaning without it.

Interestingly these types can self polarise their beliefs during their life. They might be a ranging socialist in their youth and become complete opposite later... completely opposed to it They might have no religious interest and then become 'born again'. The average joe is centered.

The conversation you have is likely going to polarise the content so that you are throwing around things further from your centre than you might really be. It happens here, and it happens in open conversation. It definitely happens in media as it's much more fun to stir emotion when selling ad space.

For example you can, without any evidence, and a 400 page report saying the opposite believe that Trump colluded with Russia to steal the last election.

and his kowtowing to the Russians,

For example this sentence can obviously backed by a breakdown of foreign policy and definitely isnt solely reliant media analysis of conference speeches.

And by huge resistance to trump with in the army trog has confused leading every poll of the military except during September when anonymous leaks said trump called Vietnam vets suckers in an episode of "things that definately happened".

One of the more amusing aspects of discussion amongst troll farm twitter in this early post-trump era is their scorn against people who don't wish for unity with them. Why would anyone want to unite with you degenerate pieces of s***? Sure the top brass have to be all political and say unity is possible, but for us not burdened with the obligation to lie to keep our jobs the path forward is pretty clear.

There's no nuance or leeway when it comes to the people who promoted trump's lies and mindlessly defended him the past four-and-a-bit years. You people are f*****g done. You're only hope is that a shiny new racist emerges and gets into power. That way you can bask in their shroud of legitimacy for a while. I gotta say it's more cathartic than I thought it would be. You were an absurd pack of liars from the start of course, but now the toupee has been pulled out from under you and you all look utterly ridiculous. I reckon some people will be fooled, and think that the aggressively anti-democratic trump is a by-product of whatever jeopardy faces him when he loses the protection of his office. He was always that, and more. I think at the absolute bare minimum he will face obstruction charges as stated by Mueller when he testified. More fanciful thinking gets me to money laundering, fraud and extortion. However it's entirely possible that the trend will continue, and we'll learn things about trump that previously seemed unimaginable.

So welcome to the bin you dumb trump f****. Back to where you were pre-2016. Obscure little virgin-filled internet hellholes where you hatefully jerk each other off with your sweaty little hands. Try and stay there this time though it's kind of embarrassing to read your dumb s***.

It is entertaining to watch an especially stupid vicious little man wax lyrical about a victory over trump which was 40,000 votes.

Don't forget this sad pathetic little moron thinks that Trump murdered 300,000 people and is a Russian plant and is Hitler. Yet he some how still managed to land 75 million votes.

Particularly enjoyable is the projection that occurs for example:

Thanks mate.
I know I am considered a Game arena alien but I have always appreciated your input into the forums.

Anyway, I cant say that I can give any real perspective into the US military but I can say that if they had a realistic perspective they would vote against Biden.
If you consider that the democrats have done nothing about the lawlessness in their cities and actively protecting them I have no doubt most of the people that defend he country would be mortified.

If the powers that be can influence the citizens at home influencing the military away would be like shooting fish in a barrel.

Conversely, its interesting to note that people with an outsiders point of view, people that have a better vantage point, like Australians, have been corrupted and I was very surprised to read how passionate you guys are about Joseph piss pants Biden.

Its a common theme that people outside of America can see whats happening, better than Americans.

Could have sworn we established that communism was aids right here on this forum about a decade ago.

My prediction is that Biden will become the next president.

Biden will relinquish his presidency due to mental and physical deficiencies ie COVID to Camel Harris, and hey presto , we have our first black female president.
We cant be too happy tho cos there's no such thing as gender or race any more....Amen and Awomen to that aye.
Kamala will be a puppet cos she- sorry they/them - has no idea about anything and will sign on the dotted line for anything to get her paychecks and smile like a f*****g idiot.

Zero law enforcement in DC to stop the Maga crowd from entering the building.
The session is in recess an hour into it because Trumpers have breached the building and are walking around inside the taking pics. They are even staying within the barriers.
Talk about peaceful protest. Any one of them could have a bomb and blow up all the congressmen and womens.

They will prolly all be airlifted to safety out he back door and this objection thing will never happen.

I don't want to get into the semantics but if you can't say you can give any real perspective, then maybe you shouldn't then offer a perspective? Further, I've literally just told you your perspective is arguably wrong from people in my family that I talk to regularly.

The Internet is full of pro-Biden military sites. Trump is famously anti-war (one of the few actually genuinely good things about him) and as a result has a lot of opposition from the military-industrial complex. On what do you base a "realistic perspective" leading towards them voting for Trump?!

If you consider that the democrats have done nothing about the lawlessness in their cities and actively protecting them I have no doubt most of the people that defend he country would be mortified.
This is just untrue; I know there's this weird meme that "liberalz" cities are violent wastelands with roaming gangs of antifa burning and looting everything but this has not happened at scale.

(I also hope the irony of you posting this while actual literal insurrectionists are storming the capitol to throw a coup is not lost on anyone)

Conversely, its interesting to note that people with an outsiders point of view, people that have a better vantage point, like Australians, have been corrupted and I was very surprised to read how passionate you guys are about Joseph piss pants Biden.
Australians do NOT have a better vantage point. Why would you think this? The average Australian knows practically nothing about Australian politics, laws, or current events, what f***** chance do you think they have that makes them have an understanding about America that they didn't learn from The Simpsons and Die Hard?

Its a common theme that people outside of America can see whats happening, better than Americans.
yeh watching youtube and reading twitter really gives us a strong insight

now we get to wait and see whether or not Trump will wave his finger at the naughty boys or cheer them on

edit: the only positive is that I think recent events have proven that he's such a f*****g massive loser that there's not even enough people that would be deads*** stupid enough to go the civil war route and risk dying for that stupid bloated incompetent corrupt moronic a****** loser, especially once a few of the attempts from the military cosplayers are shut down quickly, like this one hopefully will be

Yeah protestors protesting the way people should protest.
They were just as surprised as anyone to actually get in....cos they had Kevin with a baton at the door to fend off 250,000 trumpers. Kevin is prolly a deadly MOFO at Call of Duty but thats prolly not gonna cut it.
I wonder why the law enforcement was so light. because they knew trump supporters wont hurt anyone and they didn't want the objections to be heard.

No way Baz. Storming in to Congress even if a futile pathetic larping exercise is absolutely not acceptable.

It's a shame that woman was shot and killed but kicking down the doors of the seat of Congress can and should be met with overwhelming force.

That's not just protesting.

Spoke to Steve and Kosta and they are OK with this thread coming down

I'd rather have no forum than this forum in this state

I have removed everyone's post limiters & set them to the default 5mins so you can talk about games to your hearts content!

But no more politics threads please, unless they specifically relate to gaming in Australia (e.g. if the government tries to ban games, or something). Please do not attempt to derail gaming threads with politics.

If you have any thoughts or feelings on this please direct them to Steve and Kosta on the AusGamers contact page.
