Hey there every one, wanted few suggestion from the PC gurus here. I currently have the following specs
FX6300 16 gig RX560 I play games like DOTO and CSGO which work fine on the PC. Now I am thinking to update and get RYZEN.5 1500 so I can play some new titles such as FarCry5 and Prey. My question is should I update now or wait for the second gen Ryzen. Also is it worth updating the CPU? or should I get a 1060 (6gig version) instead. TIA :) |
yeah it’s kind of relevant to gaming if you’re going to be keeping something like a 1080p monitor from a previous build, is the motherboard you’re running that fx6300 on compatible with the current Ryzen socket or even the 2nd gen Ryzen socket or did you overlook that, is the hdd or ssd currently in use enough or are you going to get a welcome loss in latency from an m.2 hardware format ssd, do you need an nvidia 1060 series for cuda cores or is a 1050Ti 4Gb more on the money. the 1050Ti has ~60% of the cuda cores of the 1060, the difference between 4Gb on the 1050Ti and 6Gb on the 1060 isn’t going to matter much at 1080p if that’s what your running at anyway. 1440 and above with fsaa and ao settings is where you’ll use the extra memory overhead of the 1060.

I will be using a 1080 monitor for the next 2 years. Dont have the budget to get a new monitor. My FX6300 runs on a AM3+ mobo. Ryzen is on AM4+, so will be needing a new mobo and RAMS for Ryzen. I already got an SSD attached to my current PC so wont be upgrading that. Thing is I want to invest about 500USD and play new games, It can be either a new PC or a GPU, I just need it to cover me for 1-2 years, Dont want to update again before that! |
No you shouldn’t upgrade your system. Buy a budgo 1060 (or at a push 1070) for a bump in GPU performance and move on.
There’s a good to fair chance that you’d be able to play Prey or Far Cry 5 on what you’ve got just fine @ 1080P. |
