Are there any video production people / startups who can help me out with creating a few "how to" videos? Or can recommend someone?

What exactly do you need done or is it just advice?
I was talking to a guy just recently who was on the way out of the Professional vid maker "industry" . Selling all his gear and looking to do something else. This was a top flight guy in the industry: used to outsource his talent to major corps and businesses. Said it was good work in the 90's and noughties but now its dead. All the work dried up or pays a fraction of what he used to command. I ask how it happened and he pointed out a few things. The massively decreased cost to set up a "professional" studio in house. That self publishing had simultaneously lowered the bar on exceptions for the finished result and made it easier to get stuff out there. He even told me a tale of how he was working for one corp and they assigned him a "helper" from in house and after he showed the helper guy the ropes - how to set up and shoot and publish and what was the right equipment / formats/ whatever - the corp terminated him and just made the helper their vid guy. They didnt even make it a secret they were just - "well thanks for showing our guy the ropes he can take it from here". Maybe if you want something done you should just do it yourself? If there are still folks out there doing this kind of thing for their crust of bread i wish em luck. |
Its just a few one off videos on "how does this piece of equipment work" I don't really want to do it myself, i don't have the time to edit and chop the vid etc and i don't have the equipment.

Would help but I'm in Melbourne. Quitting my day job soon and will concentrate on video and animation.

isnt this all the equipment u need?
http://chargebar.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/smartphone-picture.jpg and some generic movie maker app? I guess it depends on how fancy you want the vid and how precious your time is. |

Got a mate with a video camera? Surely there wouldn't be that much edit time involved if you just record yourself doing something. I keep meaning to do it at work but the only thing stopping me is my hands get filthy and I don't want to touch my camera. |

mooby, my uncle does professional video production - it is high quality stuff though so is correspondingly expensive (he came out to ilab to talk to the guys out there about video stuff a while back). If you are interested in more info shoot me an email/PM and I can connect you.
