yeah, xbone is releasing in 13 countries then expanding to more in the new year. it will be interesting to see how many PS4's sell when released here and in europe in 2 weeks time.

also, here's a graph someone made on neogaf showing first month sale's data for console releases. ps4 blew everything out of the water.

PS3 was also hideously expensive on launch, this is the first time they have ever been cost competitive at release.

But yeah it sucks that there is no penalty for supporting the sort of exploitation a lot of these factories are known for. The same companies that cry and moan when someone downloads a song are responsible for making products in factories with 16 hour shifts for school kids on "work experience".

I kind of wish we had the option to backup the digital library on to a hdd or something similar, much the same way that steam allows you to back up media.

Wish it had of just been $499/$549 for the PS4/Xbox One instead of the absurd $549/$599 bracket in Australia. Yeah sure rip us off, but at least do it nicely.

Not sure if you recall the 'Australia Tax' for the last gen Eorl, but for the extra $100 in this case I'll gladly accept the benefits of Australian consumer law (and 'alterations' to standard-type Warranties therein) Even moreso in the event that apparently the DOA Consoles in the states are apparently being replaced with 'refurbed' units [admittedly, not such a big deal given the to date life of the product].
Under Aussie Consumer law I can replace/repair/return within the first 30 days amongst a long list of other benefits.

IVY, I have a feeling prices on SEN will be the same as they are now, i.e. stupidly overpriced. Also games weighing in at 35GB or so each is putting me off digital downloading which is annoying because it'd be nice to not bother with physical media.

I wasn't so much referring to the expense, more the packaging and delivery (with an emphasis on Delivery) The time it took to download updates in 'early PS3' days were astonishing for 130mb. You could fire up your PS3 and then start the update. Whilst that went on, you could then go to your PC (on the same net connection) download the PS3 update direct, burn it to disc and stick it in the PS3 in less than half the time it took PSN to just deliver the 130mb.

This is before you get started on market segregation too, games available on the EU/US store and not available on the Aussie one (not related to Ratings woes either)

Mmm guess so considering I remember the original PS3 gong for $1,000 on launch day. From memory I think we paid $400 for our PS2, I can't quite remember but seems like we are getting a good end it seems. Just wish games would actually come down in price but that won't happen any time soon. Wonder whether we will see cheaper sales on SEN...

Ivy, I've been reading from the NA gamers that download speeds and speed performance in general has gotten a lot better. UI speed as well is much more favourable, though the few videos I've seen still show the PS Store to have that slight bit of lag/delay. Apparently you can now download multiple files at once, instead of queuing them up and only downloading one at a time.
