Apparently it's been heavily built around american intellectual property interests, an apparent crackdown on internet piracy in Australia, and supposedly may raise game prices.

I don't mind creators of IP having rights to pursue breach of copyright. As long as we recognise intellectual property as a form of property then those rights need to be protected.
I am more indifferent to the actual EXISTENCE of copyright. I think the evolution of ideas would be faster and produce better technology for society if every person was just simply free to make the best product they can. It is always going to be a tough question about how to protects the arts, especially movies and games. My major concern is that free trade agreements are supposed to lower the cost of goods to Australia. There is no benefit in a free trade agreement for Australia if all it does is increase the risk of litigation against Australians, impose more conditions on purchasing of goods, and put the government at risk of being stuck buying brand name medicines. Seriously what kind of numbskull would sign an agreement like that? |

Ok so the part about breaking region codes relates to modding the device, what if the device is region free as a built in feature or if you type in the developer code to unlock the extra regions on the device (My old Sony DVD player is region free, as is my Sony Blu -Ray player. And I used the dev code to unlock my parents ones, something like hold stop button type 001265 and hit eject, bringing up secret dev menu and selecting region 0) would these then be breaking that law as I'm playing region 1 dvds that I imported many years ago.
