Former prime minister Kevin Rudd has announced his retirement from politics in an emotional speech to Parliament, adding "it really is time for me to zip". Malcolm Turnbull's response: |
Good to see the former incompetent and chaotic Prime Minister who led the worst government in Australia's history deciding to leave parliament once and for all.
|
So now that the ALP is electorally dead the parasite has left the host.
Electricity Bill can now lead the lost tribe of the ALP Primary Vote into the wilderness to search for a new Policy that will get them elected. |
With Kevin, everything is about Kevin
|
With [insert politician], everything is about [insert politician] |
Sad lol at these frothing partisans, Howard quit after he lost the PM role too. Nelson quit after he lost the spill.
|
see ya kruddler, thanks for everything bro, you made australia a better place and steered us through some dark times.
australia thanks you!@ |
Yeah Krudd wasn't so bad. He paid for some of Spooks TV!
|
Not quite the same Nerf, Howard lost his seat in Bennelong in the 2007 election, where as Rudd won his seat of Griffith.
|
Gotta laugh at the twits ragging on him, just wait and see what is coming up with abbott. Youll be pretty f*****g quiet in a year or so.
|
f*** me political fanatics are the worst kind of people haha.
well spoken by Turnbull ... he should have been the one that's PM. |
It is a bit LOL worthy that My Abbot called for a more dignified parliament and at the very first opportunity, the very first, he results to name calling. 'Electricity' Bill. The very first chance.
And some of you guys think he is a good 'Leader'. That isn't a good leadership characteristic, to go against your word. |
Hurrah! I wish Rudd left after Gillard took over. She did a good job, unfortunately she had him in the background being a douche canoe. Least he wont f*** around with this generation of Labor and hopefully they can move on.
|
Tuesday I hear a rumor that Krudd has a mistress from his church and his misses has left him. Wednesday he quits politics.
|
f*** me political fanatics are the worst kind of people haha.well spoken by Turnbull ... he should have been the one that's PM.Just as bad as console fanboys. Good to see Kevin going on his own accord though, I'm sure that is a rare occurrence. |
Howard quit after he lost the PM role too. Nelson quit after he lost the spill. And? What's your point? We are "frothing" because a terrible, incompetent, dysfunctional, chaotic, attention seeking, self absorbed PM has decided to call it quits. Gotta laugh at the twits ragging on him, just wait and see what is coming up with abbott. Youll be pretty f*****g quiet in a year or so. Tony Abbot can't possibly be as bad as Kevin. Kevin never use to listen to his cabinet or even fill them in/consult them on government issues, he also didn't get along with most of his minister. Tony does. So that's 2 areas where he has passed Rudd already, and there is plenty of others. Tony would need to mimic rudd and THEN more to be worse than Rudd. good. now labor can rebuild. Krudd was a psycho. But they won't rebuild though. They still have the same incompetent, dysfunctional and chaotic people now in the shadow ministries. I don't understand their logic where they would just go and plonk them straight back into the shadow ministries they were booted out from for being incompetent. It's comedy gold. |
I liked Rudd, Gillard was worse IMO. Now we are stuck with Tone for 3 years.
|
Sad lol at these frothing partisans, Howard quit after he lost the PM role too. Nelson quit after he lost the spill. Howard actually lost his seat because he was so unpopular in the end. |
Some people on this forum could learn a lot about class from Malcolm Turnbull. Kevin Rudd himself could learn a bit about class from Malcolm Turnbull. Twenty minute long speech thanking past and present staffers, public service, his family, colleagues, constituents, calling out former PMs back as far as Whitlam and not even a brief acknowledgement of Gillard. No doubt he's still extremely dirty with her and could probably do with some time off to reflect on that. :) |
Why would or should he acknowledge Gillard?
She was the first to unsheathe the knives and is largely to blame for the entire Labor debacle. If you create a president and ride him to power then you can't complain when he acts like one IMO. All Kevin did was refuse to give up after being shanked, she deserves none of his respect at all, from his chair its pretty classy to go out without slagging her out (which, btw, she did not have the class to avoid doing). |
Gillard was just practicing a long standing tradition within the Labor party. Rudd-Gillard was the new Hawke-Keating
|
Gillard was just practicing a long standing tradition within the Labor party. Rudd-Gillard was the new Hawke-Keating Within Australian politics, you mean. Unless like many youngsters you are buying into the neo-Coalition spin that their side of politics was born with the Howard Government? |
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/labor-leader-bill-shorten-furious-at-kevin-rudds-retirement-ambush/story-fni0fiyv-1226760777926 The ALP are yet to hit rock bottom. Its hard to believe Rudd swept to power in a landslide 6 years ago and the Coalition was itself a rabble. |
Rudd was a meteorite consumed in the foggy atmosphere of his own ego. He never stood a chance.
|
Why would or should he acknowledge Gillard? I wouldn't have expected him to slag her off, and obviously any glowing praise for her would have been regarded as disingenuous. As a statesman it would have been dignifying to have at least said something to acknowledge her contribution as a former prime minister. The lack of words thereof speaks volumes. I disagree that she's to largely blame for the debacle. A divisive caucus deserves a big slice of it obviously, but if you've heard their free character assessments over the last few years I reckon Rudd himself earned that honour. |
I'm liking this Turnbull guy, how did thy choose Abbett over him?
It would of been worth acknowledging Australia's first female Prime Minister I think, for that alone perhaps. |
Its hard to believe Rudd swept to power in a landslide 6 years ago and the Coalition was itself a rabble. welcome to the cycle of politics. in 3 or 6 years time we'll all be back here doing the same threads. Abbott will get rolled by Turnbull who will get rolled by Morrison etc etc. groundhog day Aus politics style! |
Unless Australia can muster up a third major party to rival the 2 main ones, only then will we see Australia truly move forward..
|
no Turnbull will never lead the Liberals. Never not ever.
then again, weve all heard that never/No word a lot over the last few years. Rudd and Gillard did not like one and other before they were joined together to lead Labor. Gillard was there to placate the Union factions. She was never a choice by Rudd. The seeds of what happened were prolly there for all to see but the Messianic rise of Rudd swept away all concerns. |
Which is a pity because Abbott is a complete and utter retard in pretty much every arena.
|
Malcolm should have been a prime minister and he never will be...
|
Malcolm should have been a prime minister and he never will be... I can't for the life of me figure out why people parrot this line except he supports some of Labors positions on things so of course labor supporters would say "oh yeh he should be the leader of the liberal party" Do you actually think the Liberal party would have different policies? It's not a one man show, it's about the team. |
Do you actually think the Liberal party would have different policies? It's not a one man show, it's about the team Yes I do. Tony is a religious academic. Malcolm is a tried and tested professional ... who can actually speak. I disagree with his ideological point of view but he at least has the presence to do the job. |
the boats have not been stopped
just the media coverage of the boats not being stopped |
I am happy with the significant reduction in boats.
|
the boats have not been stopped There has been a 79.3% reduction in boats since the new government was sworn in and growing. just the media coverage of the boats not being stopped Incorrect, there is plenty of coverage, it just depends if you are willing to listen to it or not. |
News coverage like this?
Latifa, a Rohingyan woman from Myanmar, gave birth in the Mater Hospital last week but was returned to a Brisbane detention centre while her baby remained in the neonatal intensive care unit.Hmm I wonder if that was true or just an outright lie? But in a statement to the ABC's AM program, the Mater Hospital suggested the mother should have been allowed to visit her child whenever she wanted.Yep! link |
Here's the article written by those NYTimes journalists who went on a boat ride. It is a bit too advanced for some of the slower people posting in this thread but for those who actually appreciate good journalism it's a good read.

"Discarded like a meal on a lazy susan at a vietnamese restaurant."
Classic Line Turny. |
What do you mean up there fpot?
It's common for the *mother* to be discharged from a maternity ward after a couple of days, once they're well, but they're still allowed access to the babby at any time even after going home. |
If the baby is born in Australia doesn't that make the baby an Australian ?
|
yes.
(I wanted to say "only if it's white" but is hard to be sarcastic posting on a forum.) |
yes. So you wanted to say two wrong things then? |
I am confused...
currently.. work has dumped all it's projects now... Dell, Microsoft and Apple.. :/ in what universe do you do something like that ? the NBN isn't just a bet... last edited by koopz at 20:55:31 17/Nov/13 |
What do you mean up there fpot?Basically - Mother gives birth Baby is ill Mother is only allowed to stay for 6 hours a day as she is in detention for her terrible crime of If the LNP just came out and said yep she wasn't allowed to stay there all day because we have a hardline on keeping people who have committed no crime indefinitely detained, that would be kind of cool because they're c**** and everyone with a brain knows they are c****. Instead they tried to blame it on the hospital for not having enough beds or whatever. The hospital then said that wasn't true and that she was always welcome to stay and that it is actually encouraged. The only way you could safely attempt a lie like that is if you knew you had a drooling support base who never read anything and just believe everything that you say. And guess what? In other news, and I was actually wondering about this because maybe I am just a bit cynical - at the recent CHOGM just about every world leader who attended (I'd like to say all but I am not sure) condemned Sri Lanka for their human rights violations. Everyone except Tony Abbott. He said it was all good and actually gave the Sri Lankan government a couple of patrol boats to help stop people fleeing the country. What the f***ity f***? If it wasn't so f***ed up, it would be comical. |

I don't have assets that can be taken away from me ( heh ) - though friends do. Don't be my friend if your dodgy - electronically and verbally ya know - I get the feeling I have said this in the past last edited by koopz at 00:48:52 18/Nov/13 |

If it wasn't so f***ed up, it would be comical. I think Tony clearly would not approve of the human rights abuses, yet, at the same time, it's important we stop the boats, so if we talked bad about Sri Lanka they might not participate in the deal. You don't bag someone you want something from. Preventing the boats from leaving the source destinations is a very good strategy and the one I voted for when I put liberals in government last election. No person has a right to enter this country illegally. Not trading/dealing with/cooperating with a country just because they have human rights abuses is dumb if you ask me. Might I add that China has HEAPS of reports of human rights abuses and Kevin was giving them BJ's on a daily basis when he was the labour PM. |

He didn't say Human rights abuses was "all good" and Sri Lanka knows Australias position on their human rights abuses, they don't need to be lectured and reminded every 5 minutes. Which is Tony Abbots position. Don't say such f*****g stupid things(i guess you can't help it) |

Which is Tony Abbots position. Tone's approach has been pretty weak. Reminding them while they are hosting CHOGM is a little different to pestering them on the phone. Even David Cameron gave them a bunch of s*** over it. |

Saw an article saying Australia was being mocked/criticised at COP for dropping the carbon tax and other environmental lax's.
EDIT: I meant COP, the Warsaw Climate Change conference. |
In a country that thrives upon mining and other industries, the carbon tax is a stupid, stupid idea. I, for one, would appreciate our cost of living stay low.
Why hinder our most powerful export? What's Australia when we don't have mining? |

What's Australia when we don't have mining? Let's just sit on our hands and enjoy the mining good times then. Don't worry about creating new high tech markets so we have something after the mining boom subsides. We only get to dig those minerals up once, Gina and Clive are still going to dig them up even if we tax half the profits because they're still ridiculous profits. |
Oooohhh someone mocked us! Quick change our policy!

Tone is going to have to find the money from somewhere. |
Incorrect, there is plenty of coverage, it just depends if you are willing to listen to it or not. I wouldn't pay too much attention to rulesofbooks. He is probably still butthurt over the total destruction of the greens. He is a dyed in the wool greens supporter. Who normally rattles of on misguided uninformed rants, where anything that isn't in favour of a full open door on immigration is racists and backwards. He believes all control of countries should be handed over to the U.N. And that is no joke. He also likes to cherry pick what information he chooses to acknowledge. he turns into an ostrich quick smart when ever evidence or news comes out that doesn't support his views/agenda...Dogma |
In a country that thrives upon mining and other industries, the carbon tax is a stupid, stupid idea. I agree. The science behind Carbon Dioxide is crap. |
rulez is somewhere to the left of Nerfy.
