So now that the ALP is electorally dead the parasite has left the host.

Electricity Bill can now lead the lost tribe of the ALP Primary Vote into the wilderness to search for a new Policy that will get them elected.

And? What's your point?

We are "frothing" because a terrible, incompetent, dysfunctional, chaotic, attention seeking, self absorbed PM has decided to call it quits.

Gotta laugh at the twits ragging on him, just wait and see what is coming up with abbott. Youll be pretty f*****g quiet in a year or so.

Tony Abbot can't possibly be as bad as Kevin. Kevin never use to listen to his cabinet or even fill them in/consult them on government issues, he also didn't get along with most of his minister. Tony does.

So that's 2 areas where he has passed Rudd already, and there is plenty of others. Tony would need to mimic rudd and THEN more to be worse than Rudd.

good. now labor can rebuild. Krudd was a psycho.

But they won't rebuild though. They still have the same incompetent, dysfunctional and chaotic people now in the shadow ministries.

I don't understand their logic where they would just go and plonk them straight back into the shadow ministries they were booted out from for being incompetent. It's comedy gold.

Kevin Rudd himself could learn a bit about class from Malcolm Turnbull.
Twenty minute long speech thanking past and present staffers, public service, his family, colleagues, constituents, calling out former PMs back as far as Whitlam and not even a brief acknowledgement of Gillard.

No doubt he's still extremely dirty with her and could probably do with some time off to reflect on that. :)

Why would or should he acknowledge Gillard?

She was the first to unsheathe the knives and is largely to blame for the entire Labor debacle. If you create a president and ride him to power then you can't complain when he acts like one IMO.

All Kevin did was refuse to give up after being shanked, she deserves none of his respect at all, from his chair its pretty classy to go out without slagging her out (which, btw, she did not have the class to avoid doing).

BILL Shorten was heard swearing as he left the parliamentary chamber on Wednesday night after being forced to deliver a political eulogy to Kevin Rudd.

The new Labor leader was given 10 minutes notice that the man he replaced was about to drop his bombshell during a division on a vote to raise the government's debt ceiling.

"He was furious,'' said a Labor source, who saw Mr Shorten walking out of the chamber muttering.

"Rudd obviously didn't tell him because he thought he would leak it.''

I wouldn't have expected him to slag her off, and obviously any glowing praise for her would have been regarded as disingenuous.
As a statesman it would have been dignifying to have at least said something to acknowledge her contribution as a former prime minister. The lack of words thereof speaks volumes.

I disagree that she's to largely blame for the debacle. A divisive caucus deserves a big slice of it obviously, but if you've heard their free character assessments over the last few years I reckon Rudd himself earned that honour.

then again, weve all heard that never/No word a lot over the last few years.

Rudd and Gillard did not like one and other before they were joined together to lead Labor. Gillard was there to placate the Union factions. She was never a choice by Rudd. The seeds of what happened were prolly there for all to see but the Messianic rise of Rudd swept away all concerns.

News coverage like this?

Latifa, a Rohingyan woman from Myanmar, gave birth in the Mater Hospital last week but was returned to a Brisbane detention centre while her baby remained in the neonatal intensive care unit.

For several days the Immigration Department only allowed Latifa to visit her baby at the hospital between 10am and 4pm.

The baby was discharged from hospital yesterday afternoon.

A spokesman for the Immigration Minister yesterday said doctors at the hospital had advised that it is not common for mothers to stay overnight because of bed restrictions.
Hmm I wonder if that was true or just an outright lie?

But in a statement to the ABC's AM program, the Mater Hospital suggested the mother should have been allowed to visit her child whenever she wanted.

The hospital says it encourages new mothers to be involved in the baby's care wherever possible to help establish a strong bond, and does not place restrictions on visiting hours.

"Once a mum is clinically well enough to go home, she is discharged from hospital, but is encouraged to be involved in her baby's care wherever possible to help establish and strengthen her bond with her baby," the statement said.
Yep!

Basically -

Mother gives birth
Baby is ill
Mother is only allowed to stay for 6 hours a day as she is in detention for her terrible crime of

If the LNP just came out and said yep she wasn't allowed to stay there all day because we have a hardline on keeping people who have committed no crime indefinitely detained, that would be kind of cool because they're c**** and everyone with a brain knows they are c****. Instead they tried to blame it on the hospital for not having enough beds or whatever. The hospital then said that wasn't true and that she was always welcome to stay and that it is actually encouraged. The only way you could safely attempt a lie like that is if you knew you had a drooling support base who never read anything and just believe everything that you say. And guess what?

In other news, and I was actually wondering about this because maybe I am just a bit cynical - at the recent CHOGM just about every world leader who attended (I'd like to say all but I am not sure) condemned Sri Lanka for their human rights violations. Everyone except Tony Abbott. He said it was all good and actually gave the Sri Lankan government a couple of patrol boats to help stop people fleeing the country. What the f***ity f***? If it wasn't so f***ed up, it would be comical.

I think Tony clearly would not approve of the human rights abuses, yet, at the same time, it's important we stop the boats, so if we talked bad about Sri Lanka they might not participate in the deal. You don't bag someone you want something from.

Preventing the boats from leaving the source destinations is a very good strategy and the one I voted for when I put liberals in government last election. No person has a right to enter this country illegally.

Not trading/dealing with/cooperating with a country just because they have human rights abuses is dumb if you ask me.

Might I add that China has HEAPS of reports of human rights abuses and Kevin was giving them BJ's on a daily basis when he was the labour PM.

Let's just sit on our hands and enjoy the mining good times then. Don't worry about creating new high tech markets so we have something after the mining boom subsides.

We only get to dig those minerals up once, Gina and Clive are still going to dig them up even if we tax half the profits because they're still ridiculous profits.
