another project i've been working on is this ben heck inspired portable xbox 360 mod

it doesn't have the fancy cnc-cut casing mod that made his so popular, but it's at least robust enough to probably withstand drop's and rough handling :)

thing's still to be completed:

- lcd and dc supply splitter integration into the case lid
- xbox hd-dvd drive compliance (i think the hd drive only reads the hd media and not the game-roms)
- xk3y compliance
- aesthetic tweaks and mod's

with the launch of the Xbox One in a month or so, you could call this kind of mod project planned obsolescence :\

yeah well blah, ran out of budgeted money for it for now E.T. and an unhealthy gadget stack habit is a much more budget friendly hobby than strippers & blow, although i do miss the dabauchery

as for why? near instant loading times from an ssd is the theory, the reality will probably be some kind of incompatibility with the xk3y firmware

i need to get one of those deeper yellow rugged plastic boxes from bunnings for it. i'm using a spesh Research In Motion hard case from a supplier that I'm not supposed to for such thing for the time being to keep it from earth arc'ing out on me (i haven't had a proper earth wire for this kind of thing since way back in my tafe days)

so i bought it in 2008 just as the HD a/v media market was at the tipping point of being emergent tech (at least that i noticed) and it came with Full Metal Jacket, Transformers, and King Kong (the one with Jack Black), and Planet Earth which is an awesome bludge to sit and watch all the way through

but since then BRD has obviously won manufacturer acceptance, something like how the media difference between beta and vhs was a thing. now with next gen gaming console's being the next emergent tech the media is standardised to BRD and the content streaming channel partners' favourite word, 'cloud' :\
