BURBANK, CA, August 22, 2013 – Ending weeks of speculation, Ben Affleck has been set to star as Batman, a.k.a. Bruce Wayne. Affleck and filmmaker Zack Snyder will create an entirely new incarnation of the character in Snyder’s as-yet-untitled project—bringing Batman and Superman together for the first time on the big screen and continuing the director’s vision of their universe, which he established in “Man of Steel.” The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

The studio has slated the film to open worldwide on July 17, 2015.

The only thing that can likely redeem this will be if Katee Sackhoff is confirmed as playing Harley Quinn.

I don't think it will be like that though, I think it'll be that inevitable "When two superheroes who don't know each other first meet they fight" kind of deal, then they start working together to stop some big bad.

Clark Kent is interviewing Bruce Wayne about a huge new project he is investing in in Metropolis. Bruce is taking more and more of an interest in Metropolis since Zod's attack and spending more time there because he has managed to acquire remnants of Zod's armour through his military contacts and is using elements of the Kryptonian technology in his new project.

Bruce has bought a building in Metropolis that he is using entirely for his secret new project, but he has also built another secret Batcave there just in case. Clark has been allowed to tour the building and sees some of the exciting new technology they are working on, but most of it is off limits. Of course because Clark suspects a connection to Zod, while there he uses his x-ray vision to scope out the place and becames aware of a strange room underground, which he can see has a tunnel leading far away under the city.

That night Superman is flying over the city and follows the tunnel with his vision until he finds the entrance in nearby swampland. He sneaks in and discovers the Batcave hidden under Bruce Wayne's building, as well as Batman. Batman is watching Superman's entrance on a monitor and is waiting for him.

Superman has worked it out and announces to Batman that he knows he is Bruce. Batman asks him what he intends to do with that information, as he has realised instantly with a detective's observational ability that Superman is Clark the reporter. Clark says he will keep Bruce's secret if he keeps his, but he wants to know what Bruce is really working on, as he has been unable to ascertain enough information with his xray vision aside the fact that it is related to Zod's armour. Bruce refuses to give up the info, which angers the young Clark. Superman flies over and grabs Batman, telling him he knows it is related to Zod. Of course Batman defends himself by activating something in the cave. His suit automatically compensates and a rebreather folds out (much like Zod's folding headgear) and forms around his mouth and nose. A thick mist fills the area and suddenly Superman is weakened severely. He manages to run back through the tunnel and feeling better as he leaves, escapes.

Superman has realised that Batman had somehow changed the atmosphere in a way that impaired them both, but he was protected by the rebreather.

I heard that. There is also rumours he's heavily attached to the Justice League film.

Yeah, I'd love Martian Manhunter too, but I get the feeling if they do it they'll prolly go with the new 52 justice league lineup, maybe with Green Arrow thrown in since hes popular now thanks to Arrow.

Jesse Eisenberg has been cast as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons is Alfred.

I don't see how the timelines line up, Eisenberg is young yet they've already established Afleck will play an aging version of Batman.
