Is that Aus out for the World Cup?? Nope, 2 games to go. We're 2 points behind Oman now though as they beat Iraq overnight (table here). They play Jordan in the last game of the pool, so realistically we need to win both of our remaining games (Jordan and Iraq, both at home) to ensure qualification. If we come third, we would play the third placed team from the other pool in a home and away tie (currently Iran), and the winner of that would play off against the 5th placed South American team (currently Venezuela). Not good. FWIW - it was definitely a penalty. Arm was moving and away from his body. Not intentional, but pretty clear cut. |

Yeh pretty disappointing end. McKay (as usual) had a screamer of a game and was just unlucky to have that happen in the box (although I thought .au's defence was pretty woeful all round, I think they probably could have played it a bit safer in the last few minutes).
Next few games are looking pretty scary. |
