Yahoo buys Tumblr for $1.1 billion
Internet giant Yahoo has confirmed that it will purchase the popular blogging website Tumblr for more than $1.1 billion. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-05-20/internet-giant-yahoo-to-buy-blogging-website-tumblr-for-1-1bn/4701862 So does this mean all the porn pages will be removed or left as is? Does anyone even use tumblr? |

I cannot fathom how tumblr makes a cent of money, there's not even any ads, and it must have huge bandwidth costs.

from my readings since the announcement it would appear that Tumblr is a very 'it' site. They do have advertising and tick all the boxes for mobile and social integration. As well as Tumblr users spending more time on their than facebook users. It's only "downside" is the astronomical amounts of hardcore porn, racisim, sexism and self harm sites that will be a challenge for yahoo.
