Clarke(c), Haddin (vc), Khawaja, Warner, Cowan, Hughes, Wade, Lyon, Faulkner, Watson, Rogers, Siddle, Bird, Harris, Pattinson, Starc
Well I have to say, I really like that squad. I hope the XI is this. Warner Cowan Khawaja Clarke (c) Hughes Haddin (vc) Wade Pattinson Harris Lyon Bird Drawing this series will be a pretty significant achievement I reckon, and I really hope that we can regain the Ashes in during the home series. No Mitchell Johnson in the squad is an absolute godsend. |

Cameron Wade is the test keeper ?
Why is haddin there ? is it so he can be the oldest player in the side at 37 ? Rogers played 1 test against India in 2008 when he was 30 yrs old. Now hes back at 35 ? So who paid for the humilliating 4 test loss in India ? Nobody. Clarke better score a lot of tons or else its going to be a flogging. Thats if his back holds up. Weakest touring side to England in a very long time. |
You dont rate Watson? In the latest test series Watson scored 99 runs in six innings @ an average of 16.5 and didn't bowl a single over. He needs to be dropped. If someone underperforms (and they will) then slot him in and see how he goes. Also I forgot to mention, the fast bowlers can be rotated if need be. Siddle and Starc deserve a run at some point during the series. |
hughes to fail in england i reckon. our fast bowlers better clean up the england top order quick smart because clarke aside, the batting order cannot be trusted.
rogers will play i reckon, i doubt they'll pick a 35 year old with significant county experience to just come and fill out the squad. would prefer hughes not to play and i really hope they play khawaja and he performs. says a lot about our batting depth that we are looking at playing haddin or wade as pure batsmen. starc will play i'd say, left armer who should theoretically be able to hoop the duke ball about, plus his batting was very handy in the indian tests. |
i am not filled with confidence with this side.
awesome to see harris back, god i hope he can stay fit because hes a ferocious bowler. where are our emerging batsmen? clarke is the only one who has scored runs in the last year :( |
Cameron Wade is the test keeper ? Big move up from college wrestling in the US, but I think the kid is ready to take the gloves. Cameron Wade |
After the Indian tour. I propose that the selectors name a squad that includes:
Clarke Wade Warner 8 bowlers Considering our batsmen average about the same as our bowlers I think this is entirely reasonable. Watson and Cowan average about 32. Starc averages 28. Pattinson's average is mid 20s. On recent form Siddle scored runs in India too. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/india-v-australia-2013/engine/records/averages/batting_bowling_by_team.html?id=7977;team=2;type=series |
After the Indian tour. I propose that the selectors name a squad that includes: Others would say you're not quite going far enough. |
awesome to see harris back, god i hope he can stay fit because hes a ferocious bowler. argh |

how urgent? want to email me? |
It's just a few questions about winter comp cricket, I guess I can just ask them here seeing as though this is a cricket thread.
I am looking at making a comeback this summer but I want to get some game time in before then to sharpen up a bit and get some fitness back. I have done some googling and this Warehouse cricket seems like a goer. Being a Gold Coaster there is no way I will be able to organise enough people from down here to travel to Brisbane to play. Are there like clubs and stuff you can join? PS - I am only asking you this because I think you mentioned that you played winter cricket. If you don't then oops |
Just imagine, Clarkes Back goes, Watson gets injured, Harris down.
SOS Punter and Hussey and Warney. You would have to think team morale is very low. Supposedly theyve been preparing for this Ashes series for 2 years but in reality it appears they just picked names out of a hat. Well, its going to be a very interesting series. Lots of late nights coming up but Test Cricket in HD. Yeah Baby, YEAH ! |
yer, warehouse comp is great, plenty of teams and stuff. i always played for QUT, so im not sure about how joining teams works, i would probably contact the comp directly and they will be able to help you out.
theres a southside comp would probably be better for you. dont get access to marchant park (turf wickets) but isnt way out on the northside of brisbane. i cant recommend this mob enough, www.lastmandstands.com for a easier on the body and time cricket comp. we've just won the northside comp and next week we play the southside team, who are also the national champions, cant wait for that! |
Last Man Stands was founded in 2005, in London, by Bjorn Briggs & Wayne Greve. So 5 bowlers bowl 4 overs ? or does everyone bowl ? funny, last man still bats alone. |
just need to make up 20 overs, everyone can bowl, or just 5 guys bowl 4 overs.
and yer, batting on your own is actually slightly more difficult than you would think. the natural instinct is hit the ball and run, when you have to run 2 everytime, its actually quite difficult. usually i'll just hit boundaries if im batting on my own at the end. |
