Where was the 2nd blast ?
Using one bomb as the attack and then another a short time later is often whats used in Iraq/Syria by al queda alligned groups, but that 2nd blast was too early. Might have been an accident/Gas explosion. That video is spooky. |

You can see the bomb smoke from the second one in the vid as the camera guy looks down the street after the first one went off. Same side of the street.

Whoever did it they did it for publicity because neither bomb used high explosive. Black powder and ball bearings I would suggest. I'd say the intent was to make a point rather than carnage.
Most Merican teenagers know how to make these types of bombs. Materials are easily available. You don't need to know how to make a bomb to experiment, I used to experiment with Condys Crystals and Glycerine when I was a teenager. |

Lol hurricane, i got the jolly roger doc (http://www.textfiles.com/anarchy/JOLLYROGER/) during my early high school days and it was filled with s*** to do. Much of it unfortunately was impossible to achieve in AUS but i remember trying to find fertilizer they recommended that was high in ammonia nitrate (IIRC) that made good explosives. I didnt wanna do anything bad, just make some booms in the big ass property behind us. Used to explode lighters, deodorant cans, sparkler bombs, soda bulbs etc. One of my fave things was stealing some magnesium ribbon from high school and lighting that up just for the extreme energy it created. Also wanted to make thermite but never got around to that. Have a cabinet in my parents place filled with all the s*** i burnt, blew up during those days. Good memories. We also got some powder i think from school that would burn different colours depending on the powder type.

Thought this might happen in a thread about a tragedy in Boston. It is a horrific tragedy isn't it? What happened/is happening in Iraq and many, many other countries is also tragic. Why not make a thread about that? I've made a couple of threads about horrific incidents, mudslides in Brazil for instance and barely anyone cared. Why? Might make a new thread about that? What happened in Boston is tragic, don't detract from that. Yes bombing in Iraq on the leadup to an election is horrible as well, not less than or more than. Yes its a very sad situation that it was barely reported in mainstream media, but most people in these forums source their news from multiple sources, so no need to attack them for problems in the media which they have little control over.

Saying that America's bombs causing unintended collateral damage is the same thing as a planned operation where the sole purpose is to kill civilians doesn't really make sense to me.
I do understand the s***tiness behind the media plastering this everywhere while the bombing of civilians goes relatively unnoticed, though. The truth is the media are c**** and will only heavily report on extraordinary events because that's what brings the clicks and hence advertising dollars in. You know what I've noticed? Nobody panics when things go "according to plan." Even if the plan is horrifying! If, tomorrow, I tell the press that, like a child will get bombed in the Middle East or a truckload of soldiers will be blown up, nobody panics, because it's all "part of the plan." But when I say that one little Boston will explode, well then everyone loses their minds! |

As an atheist westerner it makes perfect sense to me how the Iraq situation relates to this. Put yourself in an Iraqis shoes. People dying near u from American bombs would make u scared or "terrorised" by the fact an American bomb could blow u up at any moment. Your an innocent Iraqi living in constant fear . Secondly if my parents or someone i cared for died from an American bomb u best believe I'd be as angry as one could be at the Americans. Come up with whatever justifications u want to help u sleep at night but I could understand an Iraqi feeling exactly like the victims of the Boston marathon bombing. I'm sure plenty really think "they are just towel heads not real people so who cares".

As for the kids hearing, it's probably just ruptured ear-drums at the worst. He'll probably be ok soon enough. |

Hospital press conference confirmed suspect #1 died at 1.35am, (4 hours ago)
Hospital was notified at 01:10 local time that a patient was coming in with multiple injuries. He arrived at 01:20 - at that point he was in a "traumatic arrest" undergoing CPR. At 1:35 he was pronounced dead. His injuries included gun shot and blast wounds with shrapnel. |

Looks like a chunk of flesh was torn off and a machete used to break through his ribs (not literally). The only thing that makes me think surgeon is the skin looks discoloured around the edge of it which looks like disinfectant / betadine type stuff. Also, does the skin look off to you around that? Almost looks like he's made of foam or something lol. There's no blood around the cut flesh, almost looks fake, or it was done after his heart had stopped. |

A lot of the "overwhelming evidence" is simply misreported info from early in the manhunt. These people spreading this s*** are the same ones that had solved the crime with the help of 4chan earlier in the week, but there isn't an ounce of shame from that at all... |

We have a gunman in the mall, bean bag rounds hell, the armed forces can storm a building a take all people alive (or at least that is what some are ie gsg 9) so a case of passion overriding the need for real answers? |

US cops don't use beanbags on terrorists. Once they have a suspected terrorist in their sights they are looking to drop em on the spot.

Citizen or not, one of the duo did kill a cop, plus you have the derka derka, previous bombs, proximity to NYC, plus America in general :). So, Context.
I just dont see how the suspects (yes I know they shot at the cops) got killed/so f***ed up This is interesting and I guess goes to the heart of what makes us Aussies Vs the Yanks. The guy in the Mall had a good discussion with the cops and personally I reckon they bean bag shot him as a less-sucky way for him to get out of a very bad situation with face. Comfortable Racism aside, I would take even money that if the bloke in the mall had been your typical boogieman Middle Easterner, I think that in that kind of circumstance the cops could show the same or similar compassion towards him. The yanks are a bit trigger happy at the moment. The Onion explains this far better than I could :). |

just once I would like someone who carries out a mass shooting or bombing or hijacking to have a film crew follow them around for a few months before they do it, so they can prove what they did, how / why etc...
Actually I have heard of someone doing this when they made crop circles or something like that, and once they revealed the video of how it was planned and done, all the facemen decided that the video was all part of the alien conspiracy too, or that someone had "got to them". |
