Port forwarding driving me bananas
I am trying to open up some of ports on my router (Belkin f9j1102). EVERYTHING I try doesn't work, except putting my server in the DMZ (Outside the NAT firewall) and I don't want to leave it like that. I am checking the port using the tool at this website: http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ Things i've tried. Disabling firewall on the router = no joy. Disabling firewall on the target computers = no joy. Enabling virtual servers in the firewall of the router = no joy. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix it that would be much appreciated. |

try following the steps used from here http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Belkin/F9J1102v1/default.htm
Maybe you missed something when setting up a virtual server. |

what are you trying to open the port for? utorrent? battlefield 3?

Do you have any virus software that you need to configure or turn off?

I am running max os x (lion server), no virus software. Os x firewall is off, router firewall is off. Only can get access to the port (according to http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/) when I put it in the DMZ.

Have you tried the actual program?
I'm not sure about that port site, I checked a couple of ports I know I have open and it says they're not. |

I use this one to check if my ports are open (I know a lot of people hate this guy, i just use the port scanner)

Sorry for the tripling up of posts, if you are running say westnet / iinet / internode is the ISP network firewall off as well.
You could also try grabbing the modem enable the firewall on the server create a PPPoE interface bridge the modem into that then test. Could be the forward facing modem at fault. Can you get another pc plug it into the wan port on the router after you have opened up the ports then run a port scan which also rules out the above. What does the router logs say? What does the modem logs say? Can you forward anything else / common ports ssh (port22) into the server for instance? It wouldn't be the first time I have seen a router totally ignore forwards or a gui that doesn't do what its supposed to |
