Looking at
CX-5 X-trail CRV Sportage Outlander Captiva Priorities are Safety Fuel space (boot especially) So far looks like x-trail...haven't looked closely at CRV yet. CX5 good reviews. |
Dualis only because the Xtrail is a cheap Renault.
|
My missus got rid of her mps for a cx-7 last year
Goes good, has plenty of room and s*** Unless you have to buy brand new, as they don't make them anymore |
I've got a 2009 CRV manual and despite being a little sluggish at times (2.4l 4cl) it's got s***loads of space and features in basic spec.
8.4l/100k city 8.0l/100k highway We have an 8month old and cart a s***load of stuff around in it. Great soccer mum car! Can't complain. |
Stop mucking round and just buy a proper 4wd.
|
Depends on budget. Kia sportage in diesel luxo spec is the ducks nuts though.
CRV was only $21,000 2nd hand with 29,000ks on clock. A bargain |
f*** off all them
Kia sportage or Ford Territory |
Was looking at Dualis. Dualis boot is tiny.
Can't do Fords. Looking to buy brand new. |
Why is that? because he's not insane |
This current ford ad campaign should be enough to turn anyone off them
Xtrails were also looked ar when we got the cx7, they have good room in the back and you can get them with an actual 4wd transfer case Probs wouldn't listen to anyone who recommends a kia lul |
Well mines a freebie so I don't care
|
Ford territory is long in the tooth, refresh in 2014?.
The other ford SUV they have is just a filler IMO. Cx-5 is nice, lot of issues with the diesel model tho. While I'm a Toyota fan, the rav4 is not a favourite, poor fuel economy overly expensive for the kit . Kia is nice, Subaru XV is ok but more on the smaller side. |
Ahem, what's wrong with Ford?
I have a lovely Ford Fairmont which has been nothing but awesome. My mum has an XR6 and my Dad has a Territory. I've grown up in them so I really like them. |
Recommend me SUV Just what we need on the roads... another soccer mom... |
Expose yourself to something different then and you might realise your parents aren't always right. I don't get this comment. I know there are better cars out there but people are hating on Ford as if all fords explode while driving them. In all the years I've been exposed to Fords there haven't been any major dramas and any change of parts are common and cheap.... How is a car brand right and wrong? Silly response. |
FJ's seem to have a decent amount of space
|
Priorities are safety and fuel and you want an SUV? le sigh. if you must get something liek that at least go a X3 or toureg.. |
for the lazy and because I cant edit:

god i hate the term SUV, for one, most of them are not sporty, a utility provides gas/power/water, or has a tray back option,
also, while you might not like the fords, you know that the captiva (or daewoo winstorm to use it correct name Chevrolet Captiva) is vastly s******, for one, it is a daewoo, and it looks s*** CX-5, doesn't have as much room as it looks, and what is with the massive centre tunnel? X-trail, isn't as nice to drive imo as the rest of the list (and the tezza is better than all) CRV, underpowered, and lost the plot, Sportage, okay, but if youre a little tall the seats can be murder after a few hours Outlander, okay, but those engines are getting old in the tooth, Captiva it's a daewoo, really that should be enough warning right there, not much has improved by whacking a holden badge on it skoda yeti, might be a little smaller than most on the list, but a tidy, nice size car (sort of mix of car, little 4wd) VW tiguan (sp) better than the the mazda, and honda hands down sorento, good bang for buck, same seat issues as sportage Suzuki Grand Vitara, still a good little car, and it is a real 4wd under it all, and nice to drive, |
I Have a Mistubushi ASX Aspire, and it..... ROCKS!!!!
so every mod con under the sun (keyless entry / start - heated seats / massive moon roof / DVD player / bluetooth ect ect ect) the Aspire comes with a 10" Rockford fosgate sub and surround setup which punches hard. Dont drive the petrol, the diesel has bucket loads of torque and this is very fun to drive. Just so you know, I drive manual / I didnt try the auto. It has selectable 2wd / 4wd / 4wd locked hubs (doesnt have a low range, but perfect for sand / gravel - just not climbing in a 4wd park lol) Fuel economy is off the hook - ranges from 800 - 1000km per tank (approx 50l of diesel) depending on what style of driving. http://www.carsguide.com.au/images/uploads/mitsu-asx-aspire-w.jpg |

At least you admit you don't get it. |
I'm with Rdizz - wifeys Tiguan goes like a champ. Had it just over 3 years and had 0 problems.. plus auto reverse park is brilliant.
|
VW Tiguan
Volvo XC60 Subaru Forester Skoda Yeti Land Rover Freelander |
honestly doczero, you like the Mistubushi? that car gives me the s****, and it is because of the little things (being exposed to classier cars might have tainted me)
my main irk with the mitsu, if you have the auto headlights on, which is normal, every time you stop, turn the thing off, open the door, and the f***** chimes (beeps once) displays "headlights on" then powers the little display screen down, this is a pointless thing that would be easily fixed, and i've not come accross it in other cars with autolights also, it is the same damn tone/pitch/noise for all warnings, it isn't hard to add some difference (I know it is something that could be easy to live with, however it is something that shouldn't really have to be lived with imo) |
Yeh I do like it =)
I dont have that issue with the auto headlights - will check on the way home tonight. But I basically leave it on , which model do you have, in the Aspire you can change a lot of the functions in the MMCS - (i.e if you touch the indicator for a sec, you can get it to flash once or 3 times). I dont think you can change the warning. But I've never really noticed the light one. lol I usually have music cranked so havent heard the warnings - but its not enough to annoy me. I came from a Navara D22 which had no creature comforts , s*** loads of road noise and wasnt much fun for a long haul. (However was good offroad =) ) Also guys, Rrocket didnt put a price range, so.... I vote for a Porsche Cayenne LOL :) |
wouldn't own a mitsu, have driven a number tho, never had it long enough to change much
|
Tbh i think the tiguan and asx are not in the right size category that he's after, the cars he listed are all slightly bigger in the suv ranges except maybe the cx-5
|
What did you end up getting??? I'm thinking about getting a Tiguan..
