I went trying to find the thread we were talking about LIFX, and though "hm, surely I'm not spelling it wrong" or selecting an option wrong etc. Saying search is broken on the AGN page would be putting it politely. The 'Quick Search' side has never worked for me, but now today even the Advanced Search returns nothing.
As just an example search: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/97682/brokenagnsearch.png And yes, I've tried unchecking first post only (which comes back checked each time), I've tried this sample search as 'kick starter'... every search I do gets zero results. Fix it codey-one-kenobi... you're my only hope :( ... please :P |
Alternatively, try the following in google: site:ausgamers.com kickstarter
|
What Nerf Lord says. I do this for every site and just assume the site's own search is crap, if it even has one.
In the case of AusGamers though, Google indexes it very very well. |
search is busted I tried using it the other day and nothing work
|
what choo talkin about willis?
search works perfectly for me, must be a usar porblem http://members.optusnet.com.au/~c.broughton3/worksperfectly.jpg |
i think the problem is that quick search doesn't search threads only titles and maybe OPs (not sure).
But certainly a quick search on 'holler' doesn't return this thread, you need to then click on the "Advance Search" Search button, which defaults to 'message subject and body' to have it find this thread. |

Does searching subject and body rape your servers or something?
I would have thought it would be better (and not violate the principle of least astonishment) to have a default search feature for a forum search the actual content of the forum? |
Do you index search terms, or is it a query against the schema that stores the original data?
|
Makes it hard for ME to find what I'm looking for, title search isn't very useful TBH.
I'm usually looking for something someone said in a topic rather than something that was necessarily the title of the thread, especially when on a busy forum its necessary to combine / coerce similar topics into a single thread. It may be different for other people tho! |
pretty sure people want to search threads hey.
