I have cracked the s**** this morning when one of our servers got powered off by the nummbies at one of our dc's
4RU dual supply - 2 1RU UPS + 2RU server or DC supplied ups DPU and single dual 2ru server pending ru cost 300gb a month of transit AU based prefer bne but open to nsw and vic sites Onsite cart 24hour access VPS is not suitable and we have other servers hosted in S3 and Azure but this one requires co lo |
We have CoLo sites at ECN in Toowong, GCOMM on the Gold Coast and years ago at iSeek at Woolloongabba (not sure if they still offer it though). We also have a client with servers in the AAPT DC at 100 Wickham Tce in the Valley. I guess it depends on what you're after.
ECN and GCOMM are great companies to deal with, not sure what their policies on 24- hour access are though, but we've never had a problem getting access to any gear hosted with them. AAPT is AAPT, but you've got to jump through a lot of hoops each time you want to get onto the floor. |
Ecn I find is a backyard operation and guess who in the gold coast has a nasty phone call comingIIRC around ~1800 for 3kW, but they can go up to 5kW. The racks are all locked and you can unlock them with an iPhone app / website so you can get remote hands in there easily. I can connect you with one of their sales people if you're interested in more deets. |
Ecn I find is a backyard operation and guess who in the gold coast has a nasty phone call coming ECN are small, but I find that they're always willing to go above and beyond to help. As for GCOMM, you've been having problems with them? We've got a number of systems co-located with them and haven't had a single problem :S If NextDC (who, to second Trog, I also have heard great things about) turn out to be too expensive, you could also look at Brennan IT's DC on Amelia St in the Valley. Or possibly Pipe Network's DC3/DC4, but that may be getting too pricey for you. |
I really like NextDCs model - they call it "data centre as a service". So they just give you a place to throw stuff and you deal with everything else. We are looking at them as a possible next expansion point for Mammoth VPS. They have Sydney and Melb DCs coming online "soon" - IIRC the Melbourne one is their flagship one and will be something like the biggest in the southern hemisphere maybe (17,500sqm).

I know the guys that started NextDC and they are excellent operators. Shame it's a full rack only.. Maybe Mammoth Networks can resell RU space?
|
Bevan Slattery is one of the owners of NextDC. He was the guy that co-founded Pipe networks as well so they're not really new to the whole DC workspace.

currnetly using full rack at iseek, but brennan have a pretty good space in the valley
|
Crusher power I would need to work out the exact draw I have it...somewhere
Transit is based on current usage mid 200's. Its a busy little kaseya server which does a couple of other things last edited by HerbalLizard at 19:16:36 31/Aug/12 |
I don't know much about Australia co-lo's these days but equinux seem to be in syndey, could be pricey though

I had a look through Brennan's setup in the Valley a while ago, they were just starting out but had good foundations. I also had a look at iseek's datacentre on Ipswich Road at the Gabba. Neither of them were somewhere I would put my gear but it was around 18months ago when I went for a look so they may be better.

Got a few machines colo'd at Sanity Tech in the Valley and can't recommend them enough.
http://www.sanitytechnology.com.au/ A rack with 500gb + 10A would be about $1500 ex GST |
Thats almost too cheap based on that DC.

I have 12 racks hosted with iSeek spread between both their DC's at Eagle Farm and the gabba. Had a really good run with them, great service, quite flexible and very professional.
