way to paint calipers?
Hi all
I'm thinking of painting my brake callipers but have been looking online for ways to do it. Most people say just spray paint them and mask the surroundings to ensure no paint gets on anything else. I was wondering if taking off the wheel and painting the calliper is the way to go, but I imagine that you would need to use special brush on paint and fully strip back the the wheel and remove the calliper. has anyone had any success or tried either way? |

Why wouldn't you just mask the surroundings? sounds faster and easier to get the same outcome....
plus why would you mess around with the brakes on a car if you didn't have to?! |

so as i understand it, you are considering doing it without even taking the wheel off?
the paint you will need to do it comes in spray cans so there will be no brushes needed when i did it i had the calipers off the car completely because i rebuilt the calipers in the process but the paint i used was s*** and never seemed to dry properly if i did it again (apart from using a different pain) i would just leave the calipers on the car and take the wheel off (i thought taking the wheel off was a given no matter what) and just get some cardboard to hold around the back of the caliper behind where ever i spray to catch any overspray |

1. remove, brakes and pads.
2. clean, wire brush, turps 3. tape and protect 4. spray with heat resistant paint I did my front calipers about 3 years ago, still look great. |

I painted mine, but I also had them completely broken down in the process of a seal rebuild, cleaned up the calipers with a wire brush and grinder, masked off what needed, painted and put them in the oven to bake.
