So the old man just bought a jumbuck and the remote keyless entry doesn't work, no official forums or manuals have how to set it, so wondering if anyone here can figure it out. From what I figure its just been a flat remote and new battery means remote reset, just can't figure out how.

I think he wants to sync it. Most keyless ones from the factory require you to do something like put the key into an ignition, turn it to accessory for x time then wait then turn it to on for x then back to off or something.

this is how you do it on my lancer for the immobilizer (if fitted)
1. Connect the MUT-II to the diagnosis connector.
Caution Turn the ignition switch off before connecting or disconnecting the MUT-II.
2. Check that the diagnosis code No.54 is not displayed for MPI system. If the code is displayed, carry out troubleshooting before proceeding to the next step. (Refer to GROUP 13A – Troubleshooting).
3. Use the ignition key that is to be registered to turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
4. Use the MUT-II to register the ID code. If you are registering two or more codes, use the next key to be registered to turn the ignition switch to the ON position without disconnecting the MUT-II.
5. Disconnect the MUT-II. This completes the registration operation.
6. Check that the engine can be started by each one of the ignition keys.
7. Check that the diagnosis code No.54 is not displayed for MPI system. If the code is displayed, erase it. (Refer to GROUP 13A – Troubleshooting).

When the battery in my commodore remote went flat holden wanted hundreds of dorrah for a new key because apparently everything needed reprogramming, told them to stick it so take that as you will.

Yeah I tried the commodore way and nothing, guessing it might be similar to the lancer as its a Mitsubishi engine.

battery has been out of my lancer remote for a month or two now, if I can figure out where I put it (weird looking watch battery on steroids) I can try putting it back in & see if the central locking still recognises the key if you want?

Did the key ever work with your car? Maybe it's just the wrong key fob? Are you 100% sure you put the battery in the right way up?

will likely need reprogramming in one way or another.
I've changed the battery on plenty of different remotes without losing entry though.

I was going to bring up what Mental posted..

The jumbuck is like the joke of the ute world. I imagine it is the same at the offices that run the safety tests, it is so ridiculously dangerous in an accident.

The Proton Jumbuck isn't a ute - it's a garden wheelbarrow.
