As per my warning in the For Sale thread:

DON'T BUY SECOND HAND HELMETS. You never know if they've been dropped.

Otherwise, good luck selling everything else :)

helmets are like shoe, there is a little wearing in, but as gross as wearing someone else's shoes might be if it is in good nick, you're right, people will buy them

nice gear tho, so getting new gear, or rid of the bike?

I don't ride bikes.
I will be getting a trailbike when I sell the house and tidy up a few things. Finish doing up my boat etc etc.

The gear is from a seperation situaion. The girl is selling some stuff of her ex's (dont worry I have seen the email saying its all legit) the profits go to the kids.

Sucks to be them.

Not only would I not buy a second hand helmet, but I'd probably buy a new helmet every few years. A small drop can cause micro-fractures that can develop further over time - requires expensive testing to confirm the fracture, as you can't see it with your eyes. Much safer to just buy new as it's the main defence from certain head-related death.

Not to sound harsh but I'm not really sure of the point of second hand motorbike clothes in general - I'd have concerns about hygiene issues as they are fairly personal gear (being attached to the rider and not the bike on each trip - through heavy sweat and rain). Maybe if it's from a partner or family or something I'd be fine with it, but wearing a random person's smelly gloves or boots ...

You make a fair point about hygeine. I struggle with the idea of going bowling for that reason.

Although a good/new helmet helps in an accident. My understanding of fatal motorbike accidents are not related necessarily to gear but the speed they were going or how someone collected them.
If hygeine is a great concern for a motorbike rider I suggest they take regular mud baths to combat the problem.
If that doesn't help at least they are getting used to the dirt .... 6' under.

I have a 2nd hand jacket, have had for years (about 10 now), mostly because you dont find leather that thick in the james dean cut jacket anymore, the leather is good, it gets cleaned and checked once a year (even tho i haven ridden for a couple of years now) and it is in far better nic than my motodry stuff that is only 8yo (the leather jacket was most likely 8-10 years old before i got it, and was well looked after)

In fact while wearing the leather one of the angles (the bikie club, not the band) offered me $500 for it, because it was so nice and thick (he had come off a year before, and ruined his jacket of 20years)
