We'd had word that this one wasn't supposed to go live until late tomorrow night, but the official EA Battlefield site seems to have other ideas as a new trailer "Battlefield 3 Fault Line Episode 2: Good Effect on Target" is currently
streaming away over there.
The new trailer shows yet more of that breathtaking graphical capability we saw in the
first gameplay video, this time in a picturesque urban-skyscraper rooftop scene. Of particular note is the intracacy of the animation system seen in the incredibly fluid movements of your teammates.
Follow our squad of U.S. Marines as they move to the rooftops to eliminate an enemy sniper in an abandoned hotel. This in-game footage from Battlefield 3 shows off the ANT animation technology from EA Tech in all its glory, with a climactic ending that speaks volumes of how the Frostbite 2 engine handles destruction
We'll hopefully have a nice as-high-as-possible resolution version available for local download tomorrow, but don't wait for that, head over to EA.com and
check this bad boy out now.
Battlefield 3 is due in Spring 2011 (U.S. Fall) for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. For more juicy details, check out our
recent interview with with EA DICE CEO Patrick Söderlund
Update: We now have this one available locally. Watch the embed below,
click here for the 720p streaming option or head over to our files library to
download the 1080p source file.

The peek at destruction tech as the rocket hits the opposing building at the end is pretty goddam lush.

Yeh i notice that too, it was a bit of fail... the other thing i was slightly upset about was when sniper shot and the leaves went everywhere they disapeared when it hit the ground :( would be nice if it was left on the ground..

I'm guessing all that awkward standing around out of cover was to show us the animation of the team mates but f***, It fully ruined any kind of epic feel I would have otherwise gotten from that trailer.

That scenario was very lame and lowered the feeling of realism for me.
Posted 08:01pm 17/3/11
I'd be surprised if the 5970 didn't run it smoothly. I'm sure you shouldn't need 4 GPUs to get a decent framerate.

The AT was actually pulled off his back, as you could see it before hand. It was slid to him quite well. You can never get animations to look as realistic as possible however.
Also, I believe the person actually playing the demo was obviously trying to show off models, animations, lighting and destruction. That is why the stood out in the open and were getting nearly taken out by the sniper.

^^ yeah I realized that, it just made the feel of the trailer feel so tacky as a result.
