Over the weekend Konami revealed they've teamed up with Saber Interactive and Columbia Pictures to produce a videogame adaptation of upcoming sci-fi blockbuster, Battle: Los Angeles.

The game will be made available as a downloadable first-person shooter for the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live and PC and is running off Saber's Saber3D Engine and will utilise Havok's Havok Destruction Module. Saber Interactive were the team behind TimeShift and are also hard at work on Inversion for Namco Bandai Games.

No release date was given for the game, but we do have a handful of screens you can check out by clicking the thumbnails below.

Wasn't there a trailer released for this a few months ago?
I'm sure I saw one that was for this that looked relatively interesting.

That would be Homefront Mephz. Maybe :S Looks cool, but will it actually have depth? Because movie to game titles never really succeed. Especially if they're rushed to get out at the same time as the movie itself.

The actual movie trailer looked pretty lame to me and it bugs me that they wouldn't just have the aliens use biological weapons to wipe out any resistance and enslave the rest.

I'm annoyed that it's Battle: Los Angeles... like anyone would care if Aliens actually attacked LA

For some reason I was expecting a game based on the RATM album. I don't know why.

IIRC The Shadow Proclamation bans the use of biological weapons.

The impression I got from trailers and reading about it is that the aliens are attacking the whole world, but rather than be a huge scale alien invasion type movie, the movie just focues on a team of army rangers who are fighting the aliens in LA and it follows what happens to them on a smaller scale.

yeah, but LA, seriously? It already looks like a warzone; they could have chosen somewhere awesome, like Dubai or Sydney or even San Fran would have been better

They chose LA because they are selling the movie to Americans first ... and its still not kosher to have blockbuster movies with burning buildings and s*** in NY.

I thought the decision was more to do with this:
The events of the film are inspired by The Battle of Los Angeles, a falsely suspected air raid of Los Angeles that took place during World War II.
