It's been a long wait for PC gamers since the November console launch of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (AusGamers 8.9/10), and before today "March 2011" was all we knew. Ubisoft have now cleared things up however, with an official press release describing the desktop version in detail and a new trailer to boot.

Now officially slated for March 17 2011, The game will ship with a couple of collector's edition variants. PC holdouts will also be happy to hear that all editions of the game include the Abstergo Project Update 1.0 and 2.0 and The Da Vinci Disappearance DLC out of the box.

You can find a detailed breakdown on the contents of the Codex and Auditore Editions as well as the system requirements in the official press release.

Check out the new trailer embeded below or click here for the 720P option.

Any news on their DRM?

I felt sorry for the people who bought the game and couldn't play it for basically a week in AC2.

Rumours say the DRM will not require a permanent internet connection. There hasn't been any outright statement from Ubisoft regarding this... yet.

would love to get the limited codex edition, but running a wireless connection in the house that has occasional dropouts, if it needs a perm connection i'll be steering clear unfortunately.

i read there's an initial login (im guessing when you first install), then you can play offline from there on.

Ubi forums mention it's playable offline after an initial login, they haven't specified wether it's a one time activation or every time you launch, I'm gueesing it's every time.

Never finished the first assassins creed, controls were so odd but i'm guessing it was intended to be played with a controller.

Why they just can't use steamworks is beyond me.

The upcoming PC release of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (which was released on console last year) will only ask that users be connected to the internet once, when first installing the game. After that, the singleplayer portions will be entirely playable in offline mode.

Awesome, it's actually worthwhile to buy then.

Previous DRM was atrocious.
