As the game's release draws ever-closer, Kaos Studios and THQ have really started ramping up the hype, today delivering a more story-focused gameplay trailer that does away with any developer diary-style explanations, and instead just drops you into the fictional (yet scary) world Koas have crafted for Homefront.

Most of what we're seeing in this video is reminiscent of the first portion of the game we had the chance to play through, but there are definitely bits and bobs of newness, along with an overall better look for the game in the way of polish.

So the US is completely controlled by North Korea, but somehow the Americans now have access to jets, armoured vehicles and helicopters? Umm... I think the point about "Reduced to a mere shadow of the super power it once was" means that you no longer have the vast infrastructure in place to fuel, arm, operate such complex weapons. At least beyond a short period of time after you stole it. So unless I'm missing some major plot point here, that's a pretty big hole in the setting.

(They pulled the same s*** in Terminator Salvation)

You are. The Golden Gate bridge scenes are an early stage of invasion, the aircraft are the attacking Korean forces.

The game's multiplayer scenarios are in a setting chronologically prior to the epic EMP, so both sides have mobilised vehicles.

As unplausible as the whole setting might be, the writer is the guy who wrote Red Dawn and co-wrote Apocalypse now, so he's pretty good at this kind of thing.

There seems to be so much misinformation about the setting to this game that people keep giving it s*** for being implausible, when it's actually thought out pretty well.

The east coast of america isn't occupied, it has been stranded from the occupied west by a line of irradiated land.
