Some details on Battlefield 3 have been announced on the official blog.

I hope BF3 kicks COD's ass. So sick of the same COD s*** but getting worse and worse on PC. I mean 9v9 BLops with laggy ass launch - so glad i didnt pay for my copy. Bring on the 64player games (but without the random disconnections from EA servers like in BFBC2 and Medal of Honor MP).

Gotta remember, COD is a arcade shooter now. Everyone seems to forget what it has become, yet want BF to beat the s*** out of it. Seriously, don't play a game you don't like, and play ones you do like. I don't want BF to try and "destroy" or outdo COD. That would mean it would have to become more arcade like then COD.

Can't wait, finally some large maps in a good fps. I just hope they don't have the control issues like BFBC2 has. Movement shouldn't feel restricted or slowed down, that isn't realistic. You can still run pretty f*****g fast and react pretty quickly with couple of guns and some satchels. And yay for prone! Now I can finally dodge bullets by hitting the ground.

Good points Eorl. I dont mind arcade shooters (i still play quake 3 and unreal tournament) but i think COD has gone downhill. COD1 in first year of college was great for MP. Didnt play COD2 MP. I enjoyed COD4 (apart from the marty noobs, 3x frag and last stand), and for some reason was addicted to COD5 MP - loved the weapons and maps but COD6+7 MP i really disliked. And spamming a COD release each year that is often incomplete on PC is rubbish. While BFBC2 wasnt perfect, i still think a better effort was put into the PC version than COD6 or 7 and without the ripoff map packs.

Not sure how you found it, but I know that at launch, my BFBC2 experience was just terrible. Why release a primarily MP game (debatable, I guess) with an entirely broken browser server? Which remained entirely broken for quite some time.

This kind of ignorance is what is killing gaming in general. Your an idiot to think every game that you don't like is terrible. If it's not to your standards, then obviously it isn't for you, so stop with the whole "it's s*** blah blah blah I deserver everything to be to my liking".

COD is a entirely different FPS to BF. Can people seriously not see that? Or are you to brain damaged to notice? COD is an arcade shooter, with rewards for every level and every little thing you do. BF is a FPS where it's more "modern" and slightly more realistic. It has a larger map limit, and mechanics are somewhat different in how the game modes operate etc.

Please, people, stop comparing the two. They are different titles. And for DICE/EA to say they want to take COD head on are ignorant and stupid as well. COD won't topple, it's high up there because of how easy it is to master, and because of the major console base. But it still is a good game, but it may not be what you like. I want BF to be BF. Not BF to be COD. That is just plain rtard.

And yes, I play on PC, not console.

Also anyone know if this is coming to consoles (not that i want it to) cause if it does i hope they don't mess up the pc version in focus of consoles!!!!!

I've played them all since 1942 and I can't really tell what the difference has been in basic controls :-/ Sure the RPG elements, classes and ranking up have been added - but beyond that it's still pretty much the same experience.

Why do you think that this will be a 'return to the core battlefield mechanics' ?

I'm with Eorl - I cannot understand why you would compare COD to BF. They both have ranking classes and FPS war simulators, but further than that you're sketching. You can say which one you prefer but not which one is 'better'.

destructible environments are a good thing within reason, i expect large buildings in bf3 to be semi destructible but not completely collapsible

so you have the benefits and cooolness of blowing holes in walls but no the retardedness of eliminating cool map defining structures

I meant, fix dolphing so that when you go prone its not super accurate, and it takes a second or two to get proper accuracy.

Then again with that little tag under GameInformer about it setting it's sights on COD, I guess DLC map packs would fit right in to being just like them.

Comparing CoD to BF is like comparing Need for Speed to Forza, I was only playing BFBC2 the other day and realized how much better it is compared to CoD!

BFBC2 has its good points, and its bad. UI and sluggishness of it could really have been better. Exiting the game s**** me to tears. When I'm finished I hit ctrl-alt-del and shutdown the program that way because it is 10x quicker, I shouldn't need to do that if I want to quit the game in a reasonable time.

Server browser could be better too, also that running through molasses feeling has been around in every BF game, I'd like that gone.
