"In the interests of adopting new technology for the Super Mario Bros. tradition, I am now making a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Nintendo 3DS system," said Mario and Zelda creator, Shigero Miyamoto, as part of the "Iwata Asks" series that has graced Wii.com in celebration of Mario's 25th Anniversary, over the past few weeks.

This revelation comes after Miyamoto had hinted at a new Mario game being in the works in countless interviews since the 3DS's unveiling. This will also be the first time Miaymoto has had a direct hand in a Mario game since Super Mario Sunshine on GameCube. It's also equally exciting because, as you may remember, it was Mario 64 that arguably redefined the true 3D game-world experience, maybe he can do the same with 3D vision, too.

There's also some pretty cool stuff mentioned regarding the culture of the core development heads at Nintendo in Kyoto, along with Miyamoto's clear desire to show off his new Mario title as soon as possible, which incidentally, won't be a launch release for the 3DS (our guess is we'll see it at E3).

"I want to show everyone as soon as possible what the new Super Mario Bros. will be like on the Nintendo 3DS," he said.
