Ahead of next week's US press conference, the Japanese market have just had a new taste of 3DS goodness at the Nintendo World Spectacular event in Tokyo over the weekend. We'll have to wait until Jan 19 for the localised juice, but for the time being, several videos from the Japanese festivities can now be found online and without the language skills you can get the general gist of things by looking at the pretty pictures.
First up, there's this
5 Minute trailer detailing the 3DS hardware and it's in-built OS features -- it offers an overview of the GUI and the built in Mii-designer which appears to be able to auto-create a Mii avatar from a portrait photo. There's also what looks to be some kind of day/budget planning built in apps as well as some manner of AR (Alternate Reality) functionality.
Next up, it looks like someone cam-captured the trailer for Mario Kart 3DS, which looks
rather unremarkable, but everything's better in 3D right?
Then we have a
30 minute Capcom presentation about all things Super Street Fighter 4: 3D Edition, which shows off a bunch of gameplay action and waffles on about the seemingly extensive multiplayer capabilities.
Lastly, and perhaps the most interesting is this 22 minute clip of Capcom's upcoming
3DS Resident Evil offerings. Known as Biohazard in Japan, both Resident Evil Revelations and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D are expected later in the year.
While it's hard to appreciate the visuals fully without the 3D effect, these videos at least give us a bit better idea of just how much more powerful the 3DS will be than it's predecessor -- even if that does comes at the cost of quite a bit of
battery life.
