2K Games' external US PR agency, Redner Group, has been let go following two rather silly
Tweets regarding
review scores and editorial of Duke Nukem Forever.
"Too many went too far with their reviews...we are reviewing who gets games next time and who doesn't based on today's venom", read one Tweet, while another followed: "Bad scores are fine. Venom filled reviews...that's completely different."
Since the media and internet caught wind of this, Redner has outwardly apologised, and distanced the comments from 2K Games, but it looks like it's
a bit late on that front.
"2K Games does not endorse or condone the comments made by @TheRednerGroup and confirm they no longer represent our products", said one Tweet from the publisher, who then followed up with "We maintain a mutually respectful relationship with the press and will continue to do so. We don't condone @The RednerGroup's actions at all".
There have been many documented cases in the past, and even more undocumented (which I've been pulled into on occasion), with publishers or PR peeps lashing out at journalists or reviewers for review scores or specific types of editorial, and so it's excellent to see a company like 2K Games standing up for editorial integrity and maintaining a "separation of journalist and publisher" stance. Many more could learn from this - kudos 2K.

Good one 2k, f*** having a PR company try and stifle a journo's opinion, which is what a review essentially is.
