While several high-profile crowdfunding efforts slowly trudge toward their targets, chalk another victory up for the little guys with more modest goals, as the 2D platforming cooperative-geared RPG project Unforgotten Quest has passed its US$100,000 target with a couple of days left on the clock.
The game project is based around the long running animated web series Unforgotten Realms, which describes itself as "a humorous take on tabletop gaming".
Unforgotten Quest is a 1 to 4 player Co-op RPG. We took everything you love about big roleplaying games and are turning it into an amazing experience for you and your friends to play in. Big classes, engaging game play, something called an "End Game" that seems it be a myth in most modern RPG/MMOs of today, all behind a large, hilarious world that makes the entire experience feel like one long Unforgotten Realms episode, where the player controls everything.
The development team has aspriations to bring on professional artists to replace their own programmer-art if they stretch high enough in the pledge drive's final hours, however some closer stretch goals that include a game jam, a classic episode, and a playable race created by the community have been described up to the $150,000 mark so far.
