It's interesting to see how many Eastern developers are beginning to look to the West for certain types of inspiration now (Vanquish being the most recent, with it's Gears of War gameplay style focus), but great to see that instead of just copying, they're combining philosophies. SEGA's
Binary Domain from Toshihiro Nagoshi (Yakuza, Shenmue, Daytona USA), does just that.
The game focuses on a future where machines have turned against man, decimating Japan (and presumably the rest of the world). Resistance fighters (albeit stereotyped) lurk through ruins and face off against drones and other machines much bigger. It doesn't sound overly original, but the trailer hints at their being potential for some cool story here.

The story looks like a mashup between iRobot and Terminator. Either way, I like the look of it.

Sacrificing realism to that degree in an effort to make the main characters look cool is a bit lame :o
