Kotaku had a chat to Halo's franchise development director, Frank O'Connor, at the Future of Television East conference where he reiterated that there would be a Halo movie, and that the company would do whatever they could to foster the right direction for any such project.
"If Danny Boyle wants to make a Danny Boyle-style movie, that's great," he told the site. "Let Danny Boyle be Danny Boyle. We would not constrain a director."
"There will be a Halo movie," he continued. "We don't need a movie. But we'd like a movie. We'd like the moms of gamers to see the movies because they would love our characters. Maybe we'll even fund it ourselves."

Pffft hahaha yeah bulls***. Good one Microsoft "The characters in our game that are vessels to facilitate hours of blowing s*** up are actually, as it turns out, extremely deep, complicated and inspire sympathy from our audiences"... haha
Maybe, "We'd like to provide the moms of our key audience with a half-assed attempt at some kind of fictional complexity and involvement so that they'll um... let their children buy more of our s***..." would be more realistic/appropriate haha
