We can actually produce hands-on videos now thanks to all this motion-controlling that's taking over (Kinect in this instance), and the latest is Child of Eden from Q? Entertainment and Ubisoft, but primarily the creative soul of the legendary Tetsuya Mizuguchi (Space Channel 5, Rez, Lumines).

The video pretty much speaks for itself, but a few quick notes. This is essentially something of a spiritual successor to Rez, and in playable form it was really easy to get into. Response times were a bit slow, but we weren't playing a final version, and were assured it would be tightened up for release. There are two main weapons: lock on and free aim, so when I clap my hands, that's me changing the weapon system. There's also a bomb, but I didn't use it in this video.

Beyond that, the game is about getting into the groove of the sound and the movement of the imagery. It's a multi-sensory experience designed to be immersive and is hard to translate into words, hence the video below.

Click here to download it in 720p. And stay tuned for a full interview with Mizuguchi-san, right here on AusGamers.
