Paradox Interactive have released a playable demo for their upcoming sea-faring sim Ship Simulator Extremes. This one's for all of those who thought that the peaceful boating of the last Ship Sim outing was too placid - prepare to take your nautical adventures To The Extreme with hardcore missions like the Sydney Harbour Ferry (not even kidding).
The SSE Demo contains two full playable missions, taken from both the Tourist Tales and the Greenpeace campaign in the game.

Tourist Tales Mission:
This mission, taken from the Tourist Tales Campaign, has players captaining a small fleet of nimble water taxi boats, as they take tourists around Marseille harbour on a guided tour against the clock. Take in the beautiful scenery, but don't take too long, time is money!

Greenpeace Mission:
Become a Greenpeace activist as you sail the Greenpeace vessel Esperanza to the Whale Sanctuary in the Antarctic to track down the whaling fleet. Take direct action and approach with your inflatables to disrupt their illegal whaling activities.
Download it right here (600MB) from AusGamers files.

Perhaps once people have gotten tired of the demo they might want to do something different. Like go down to the Queensland Maritime Museum (South Bank) and volunteer to crew on the Forceful (Steam Tug) or work on one of the displays like the HMAS Diamantina (WWII Frigate). Plenty of things to do and quite interesting because of the older members including some from Z force.

If you're lucky you might meet me down there....

Thats not what Greenpeace does. Thats what Sea Shpherd do. Greenpeace does absolutely f*** all about stopping whaling.

For 4 years of my life I worked on ships, yachts and cruisers. At the end of that 4 years I was ready to neck myself.

I bet if I played this demo I would also be ready to neck myself all over again!

Greenpeace do take direct action - they're just not as retarded about it as Sea Shepherd are and thus don't crash

Well, in the context of the Demo's mission, this is not something that Green Peace does. Its something that Sea Shepards do.
I'm sure the demo doesn't have you out holding a sign or painting a slogan on the ice.
Correct or not !?

Greenpeace have a history of interposing themselves between whalers and whales, going back to before Sea Shepherd were on the scene. These actions weren't particularly effective, but they raised awareness of the issue. Sea Shepherd have a history of ineffective f***headery and are widely felt to have damaged the reputation of the anti-whaling cause.

Also I go to sea and fail to see the appeal of a ship simulating game. The best bit is the ability to fast forward, which I wish I could do at sea.
