I still dont understand that last movie!

I got the movie where the people lived in cities and stuff and when the shield went down the people got their souls taken etc

But the latest movie... where there was that big monster thing and the guy with the big sword and the others all did stuff to kill or or whatever made no sence at all... i even re-watched it when i wasnt drunk and it still made no sence.

I dont think you should have had to play the game to understand the movie related to the game...

Yeah its a terrible shame that. Being honest btw.

Agreed. That or make a decent Secret of Mana game. Everyone beyond the PS1 Legend of Mana has sucked butt

can someone fill me in on the main problems with this game :$

- UI sucks. It's clunky, slow, and while it is nice you can move it all around to what you want it's just a little confusing to use. The old one's menu sucked too but you had shortcuts like ctrl+i for inventory.

- Combat is slow. Now while this was a good thing in FF11, in this one it's just boring because they have taken the need for parties mostly. Apparantly you can solo most of the game. FF11 MADE you group to get exp and forced you to learn your role and how to best do it.

- Magic system blows. In WoW casting a spell is as simple as pushing a button while having something targeted. In FF14 you need to push your magic button, wait for the lag, then you have to CLICK THE MOB ITSELF WITH THE MOUSE, wait for the lag, wait for the casting bar to finish and hope you don't get interupted which cancels your casting entirely and then do it all over again until the mob is dead. If you misclick the mob when it tells you to, you deselect it.

- Lag. While i'm sure there will be proxy services to fix this, for now it's got some pretty hefty lag and for me this sometimes unplayable with up to 5 second delays between actions.

- Classes. In ff11 you had 6 classes to choose from at the start. The other 10 or however many there are were locked off to you. You needed to be Lv 30 to unlocked them through quests. This gave you a bit of a milestone to work toward. Even when you unlocked the advanced jobs you could still use your Lv 30 job to compliment your newer, advanced jobs. This also put a bit of strategy into the game in picking your classes wisely. Here, everything is unlocked from the get go and leaves nothing to really aim for.

- The trinity is gone. By that I mean tanks, damage and healers. For a long time there are only 2 healing spells in the game, both of which belong to a single class. Also it's supposed to be a bug but healing others gives you incredible agro which will lead you to get beaten on until someone can get it off you or you die. While i'm sure eventually things will work themselves out, for now expect to be rather confused as to what your role is.

- There are apparantly no cities outside of the 3 main ones. FF11 had at least 1 other hub city where all roads met, and became the place you would launch any group from after Lv 20. Think of it like Dalaran or Shattrath city from WoW. maybe it's just me but I love this idea.

- Graphics are nice and will put a bit of a strain on your system if it is'nt reasonable. Sound is rather brilliant. Being in a forest actually sounds kinda like one. Birds chirping and such. In 5.1 this is exellent. Oh wait this isn't a bad thing...

Think that's about all my complaints so far.

Terribly slow combat. You have to choose your skill, then click the monster, then wait 1-2 secs for it to "warm" up, then it hits the monster. Rinse and repeat.

Areas are like hallways. You are basically running down one long hallway with quests and vendors on the sides. Supposedly release will have less like this, but at this close to release, I doubt it.

UI interaction is just plain utter s***. I move my mouse and it feels like I'm being chained down. Controls are f***ed. Supposedly it was "made" for console controller, which is just retarded. Why release a PC game and have it based around controller usage.

Square came out and said that the OB only has about 20-30% of the actual game, with well over 60% being "hidden" to stop spoilers. I can understand not wanting to spoil a supposed epic story, but keeping alot of stuff out, is bad for testing. I expect alot of broken stuff, as OB allow stress testing and invaluable data to be collected.

All in all. It's a hated MMO in my opinion. And that's just that, my opinion. I would recommend jumping into OB as quickly as you can, before it gets released.

Apparantly PC gamers in japan like to use controllers for MMOs. Odd no?

Very odd. I'd rather a keyboard and mouse anyday. I have a G15 and a Storm laser mouse. Very easy to just map extra keys in WoW, and be off shooting s*** with a click of a button.

ff is a console game, why would they make a special version just for the pc?

While we are on FF14 I found this: It explains the fatigue system in a nice clear way:

I bought that last one, it was the first one I'd ever played. I figured it looked nice, has a large fan base and I was up for a good RPG so figured it wouldn't let me down. It started off pretty good, lots of pretty cinematics and then I got into my first fight.

What the f*** was that? I clicked a button, waited, clicked the same button again and apparently beat the bad guy, you could hardly even call that an interactive game. I couldn't even move the character around during combat. I played for about 15 more minutes, long enough to learn that you don't even get to jump yourself but simply move into the right spot for it to automatically jump for you. Why even bother labelling something as a game if you aren't going to let people f*****g play it.

Anyway not surprised that the MMO plays like ass, these guys could learn a thing or two about combat from Bioware and Bioware sucks at combat.

I'll probably pick it up on PS3 and see how they nail down the whole Console-MMO thing.
Oh and that vid sugarcoats things well, but the fatigue system still sounds like its s***.
