Nintendo are due to have a press conference regarding solid details for the release of their forthcoming naked-eye 3D handheld, Nintendo 3DS, at the end of September, but as TGS draws near, speculation about said details is running wild.

A Japanese peripheral manufacturer, however, may have accidentally let the proverbial cat out of the bag, in all its 3D 'coming right at you' glory. Seems he Tweeted with excitement news about a release date for his 3DS peripherals, but also said "people who are buying 3DS, buy it at the same time!". The date he mentioned in his Tweet was November 20. His Tweet and account have since been removed, but Nintendo have been known to launch devices this quickly in the past, and the 3DS we saw at E3 looked pretty damn close to ready.

We'll keep our cat ears pricked and pried for any more info, so stay tuned.

There were some shots up over at Kotaku showing apparantly what the 3DS can do and I must say for a hand held system they are pretty bloody impressive.

EDIT - Does anyone know how big the 3DS screens are going to be? I have a DSi XL and I f*****g love the giant screens they have. Any chance the new system will have them that size?

Kind of half-way inbetween DSlite and DSi XL.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3ds

" the top screen is a 3.53-inch 5:3 3D screen with a resolution of 800×240 pixels (400×240 pixels per eye, WQVGA) [snip] while the bottom screen is a 3.02-inch 4:3 non-3D touch panel with a resolution of 320×240 pixels (QVGA)"

"It features two 4.2-inch screens"

"Top Screen: A backlit, 3.12-inch, transmissive TFT color LCD with 256x192-pixel resolution"

I haven't bought any handheld systems since like the gameboy, but I think this one might have me sold.
