"Irrespective" is Paul Wedgewood's favourite word, and he says it for quadbillionth time in today's
Brink Developer Diary. But
irrespective of that fact, today's video focuses on the team's goals to blur the lines between single-player, co-op and competitive multiplayer gaming with Brink.
It's still not entirely clear (and hasn't been clear in any of our hands-on yet, either), just how they plan on combining these elements in a compelling way that doesn't seem like one has been tacked on to the other, but their confidence speaks volumes, and having someone like Richard Ham, who worked on Fable and Fable 2, is a pretty good place to start.

The real question is just how well is it going to be executed? Well enough to compete with the narrative of a traditional singleplayer fps?
Also, I wouldn't exactly call it "the end of genre" (as they elude to in the dev diary's title), but it's definitely a pretty adventurous evolution.

I like both the art style and the customisation. Just wish it wasn't going to be several more months until it comes out. I want it now :(

I can just imagine playing the "single player" mode where it's you vs an entire clan comprised of the best people in the game using vent/ts.
